Hello from Jaxsun the newbee

Postby jaxsun » Sun Jul 05, 2009 8:31 pm

Hello Everyone...
My name is Don Jaxsun and I live in Texas... I have been looking around on line to meet some people that knows something about Teardrop trailers... It looks like I may have found the right place... Let me start off by saying that I hope everyone had a great 4th of July... Next may I ask a question? I found a trailer that is in bad shape and wanted to know if anyone may have heard of the brand... Its called a "Gypsy" she's about 10' long and is square... She has the back end that opens up like a teardrop. She has 1 window on the left side and a small window in the front. She has the door on the right side mid way of the trailer...She is framed with 1" square tubing and has no fender wells for the 12" tires... The wheels are up under the trailer. I have looked for the brand everywhere but no Luck...
I have considered starting from scratch not even trying to do anything with this trailer... But, she sure would look cool if I rebuilt it... Please let me know if anyone can give me a direction to go on this...
Thanks
Jaxsun

Jaxsun,
Welcome to the forum you have found the right place. first off where in TX are you? I'm right outside Houston. If you look at my album you will see that I built mine out of 1" square tubing and if your frame is already done then that is a great start. If possible get some pics. of the trailer so we can see. If you live anywhere near New Braunsfels Tx I will be there this weekend and you are more than welcome to come out and look.

I live up here in Decatur Texas... I lived in New Braunsfels about 15 years ago... Thanks for getting back to me. I am new so I am still figuring out how to use the site... Once I figure out how to post the pictures I will do it... I have been looking at everyones teardrops and man there are some pretty cool trailers in here.
There are things I'm worried about when it comes to rebuilding this trailer... How do you keep the hinge from leaking on the top of the teardrop... I'm going to extend the axle out so that the wheels well be on the outside of the trailer in stead of tucked up under the trailer... And of course I would love to be able to find out where you can buy the polished aluminum siding... It may be more thatn I want to spend though... If that is the case then I'm going to go with the HOTROD paint job... As far as the inside I plan to having the regular stuff... If you get a chance give me a call at 940-489-5575
Thanks
Jaxsun

Jaxson, this is a good place to shrink pics so they'll fit in your album http://www.shrinkpictures.com/ Just shrink 'em to 350 pixels to fit in your album, or to 1000 pixels for an avatar pic.

Image to the playground Jaxson. The camper you have may not work to extend the axle. If the door is centered and the wheels under they may be too close to the same place.

Pictures always help and starting over is often easier........
