Hello to one and all...

Postby atomaker » Mon Sep 21, 2009 11:59 am

Hello to one and all. My I.d. is Atomaker, since I used to be the team leader for a company that built the Ariel Atom (google it, it's worth the bandwidth). My name is Richard, and my wife is Cindy. we are searching for our first TD, and will likely buy one, since I have no place to build, and am too lazy anyway :R
I have a Honda Element and belong to the Element owners group too. I have been a mechanic all my life, and am more than happy to give free advice, guaranteed to be worth what ya paid for it. It looks like we are leaning toward an American Falcon TD, since they are built nearby (Auburn, CA). We will be visiting them in October to kick tires and look around. Happy to be here, and hope to meet face to face with other Jeffersonians soon.
Completed? first teardrop July 2010, 4X8 Cubby.

Welcome Richard and Cindy,
Welcome to the forum and hope you'll love all aspects of t/d camping. I love those Ariel Atoms and bet they are a Blast to drive. Check out Tearjerker's site, crazy--fun bunch.

Atomaker

while your driving down from Oregon, ya should stop by Li'lBear in Redding that is if Grant isn't out camping that weekend.... great to hear he is doing better

anyway check out his trailers at;

http://www.lilbear.teardrops.net/trailers.html and drop him an e-mail

If you were going to build, you'd still get Li'l Bear as a recommendation as a vendor for many of the specialized parts you would need for a classic build.

Welcome to the madness

Thanks for the welcome, all. To Wig: The ones we made here in Ashland were super hot! I modified the injection mapping and overdrove the supercharger to get 320 H.P. in a car that weighs less than a TD(around 1200 pounds wet). That makes 2.7 seconds 0-60; and 8.1 0 to 100 to 0. :?
I like the traditional looking ones, and for the price, I think I'm going to look closely at American tearsdrops in Auburn, CA.
I want pretty much an empty galley, so I can do it all myself. The "Gallery Galley" Is amazing. Kudos to the hard workers on this site. Really amazing work, all of it priceless. :applause:
