Another Newbie in Virginia

Postby G-MAN 88 » Sun Oct 11, 2009 9:48 am

Hello everyone! I've been gathering info from this site for some time now. I could not decide whether to build from scratch or buy an older trailer and remodel it.

Well I found a 1970 Shasta, I think it is the Compact model and I am going to remodel/rebuild it.

I will have some questions and will greatly appreciate your collective experience and opinions.

Thanks,
Gordon

Gordon,
Ohhhhh......nice. A Shasta. We love them. Although the wife and I love our Teardrop. We would like to have a Small trailer we can stand up in. So I am on the hunt for a Tiny Travel Trailer. Hopefully a Shasta. Almost forgot. Welcome!
Good luck with your Shasta.

Hi Gordon,

Welcome.

We are almost finished our first TD build. Hopefully we can camp a few weekends before having to hang it up for the winter.

We live near Frederick, Maryland.

Thanks for the warm welcome. I will try to post a picture here

I found this trailer at a local flea market. The seller was from out of state and was using it while they attended the flea market.I had to wait until the event was over before I could bring it home because they needed a place to sleep.

Welcome. Good project.

Even though there is more room in a TTT than a TD, you still have to pack efficently. I went camping last weekend and seemed to be moving stuff all the time. Still need to pare down. Laid in bed thinking of all I could do to improve things. Two shelves in my otherwise useless closet will go a long way towards organization.

Looks like a good workable trailer. Where are you in VA?

I live in Shawsville (next to Christiansburg).

Started to remove some water damaged paneling, ended up gutting the whole trailer. All that's left is the floor, some framing and the exterior siding. Trying to decide what to do next. [/img]

That's an area with lots of other folks. Hopefully some will chime in on your project.
