NEWB in Cleveland Ohio

Postby kmartin186 » Fri Jan 22, 2010 7:58 am

Hello everyone I am new to the tear drop area. I am looking into making on and was looking at the plans for the harbor freight tear drop. I am trying to make the most affordable trailer. What is the least expensive plan and how much does it cost? Keep in mind I have to talk my wife into letting me do this. I am newly married as of december so I am learning how to talk her into stuff! Thanks!

Welcome aboard!
You can spend as little or as much as you want on your build, but keep in mind quality material tends to cost more.
On the subject of your bride........I've got one word for you....

jewelry
Where are we going and why am I in this hand basket?

I did start with a frame already but by the time I am done I figure with all of my record keeping that I will have about $1300 in her. She is bigger than the average and I kind of went overboard with a lot of extras. I also did a lot of shopping on Ebay even had some items given to me by friends. If you're building a really basic model, I think it can be done for less. I'm not sure what the frame cost. That might eat up most of your budget. Just do a lot of comparison shopping. I agree with Anthony, you can do a little at a time until more funds become available. That's what I have done and I'm looking to finish a two year build. I built mine outside so living in Ohio I had all winter to save a little and accumulate supplies that I need to work on it in the warmer months.

A word of warning though. Once you get the bug after about the first year of building you will want to get it done and start using the camper, and participate in the activities with the great people here on this site.

Keeps us posted.
Have a great day and hoping the weather is great no matter where you are!!!

Signed, Me

Get your bride to participate in the forum, and cost won't be an issue!

Mike...

P.S. Where abouts in Cleveland?
The quality is remembered long after the price is forgotten, so build your teardrop with the best materials...

Greetings from another Buckeye. You may want to join Buckeye Tearjerkers see link above. Come to some of the gatherings and see what people have built, they are really happy to show them off and most will share what they wish they had done differently, and bring your wife :)
