Newby from Indiana

Hello, My wife wants to go to Yellowstone this May. In a tent. Can you say "cold"? Can you say "bears"? I was there when I was 10 and ran into a bear in the dark on the way to the bathroom. I screamed, the bear screamed, all the lights came on in the campground. Voice activated I guess. Anyway I was looking at the teardrop trailers and the price was crazy but they looked easy to build so I did some checking and found this web site. I spent one to two hours a night for the last few weeks reading the posts and realized there are few wrong ways and several right ways to build. The main thing is to just do it. I am going to try to build one by May 15 and post pictures and costs as I go along. I have the trailer ordered at Harbor Freight and it should be here Feb 24. It is on sale now for $349.00 for the 1700 lb. 4X8 with 5 lug wheels. Wish me luck. :worship:

Welcome aboard and best wishes with the build.

I was at Yellowstone in May of 2004. It had snowed on our way in from Teton NP. Night temps were in the 20s.

We stayed in an Old Faithful Snow Lodge cabin. Not too spendy and dog-friendly, too.

Welcome to the forum. If (for some reason) you don't go to Yellowstone in May; please think about coming to our "Hoosier Chapter" gathering at Spring Mill State Park.

Here is a link to the forum thread for the gathering.

Hope you can make it. There will be several campers in tents since they are in the process of building a teardrop.

Great time to ask questions and get a look at other teardrops.

:shake hands:

Welcome, and have fun. Be careful, though, Ispend so much time going through the posts to learn that I don't have much time to build the darn thing.

:rofl2:
