Mobile Surf Shack

Postby ego martini » Thu Feb 25, 2010 2:54 pm

Hello

I've been on this site about 3 years ago - I was working out a custom design I called the Mobile Surf Shack, it was a bit of a hybrid between the Widget design and the old Popular Science "Weekend Trailer" from April 1946. The idea was to build a large teardrop style trailer (small travel trailer) big enough for a closet washroom with a chemical toilet. I was thinking of using a Tupperware storage box as a bath tub ( I've used this before when my plumbing backed up - works rather well). I was planing on having roller racks placed on the back of the long sloping back of the trailer to strap canoes and surfboards to. I made a google sketchup model of my idea but I've been having trouble resizing it.
Bye for now.

Hello Craig, and welcome back. Your photo did not attach to the post. Give her another shot, so we can all see what you're doing.

That's lookin' good Craig.

I bought the Widget plans too, before I joined the forum, but it seems a bit heavy for our tow vehicle.

Wish you the best on your build.

Steve

Thanks for the support Steve

I've Have a Dodge Ram Half ton which would pull something like this pretty easily. I am looking for something between a T@b and a T@b Large. My daughter has convinced herself she has a spider phobia and won't use campground washrooms - this design would allow me to load up a canoe and camping gear - and give my daughter a spares private washroom (sans spiders).

Gotta love the name of your build.

But of course, if you look at my avatar, naturally I would love it.

Hi Craig.

Nice drawing. I like the graphics.

I'm interested in building a standy some day. I'll be following your build.

Working on the hard part - Thinking of a slide out drawer above the back bumper - to keep a cooler and cooking equipment. There are no portapottys in Sketch up so I used a small composting toilet ( not going to waste time drawing the perfect portapotty). Thinking of a door /platform to go over the toilet - it will open up towards the front when in use - when closed it will form a platform to place a large Tupperware style storage box - makes a great portable bathtub. The frame tongue needs to be lengthened but I've had enough of sketch-up for today - maybe tomorrow.
