I could be in some trouble.
I have been reading and looking for some time and yesterday I purchased a bolt together trailer. I watched the online sites and simply could not find a trailer worth conversion and I recently traded out the axle on my 5X10 for a heavier axle leaving me with a 5 foot 2000# trailer axle.
Reading and looking over the HF trailer I noticed that the heavier HF 4X8 uses the same bolt pattern as my longer axle and that had me thinking.
I also went to look at a tear drop for sale in the local paper where they used a 4X8 base and the longer axle which is what I want to do.
I plan to weld the trailer together instead of bolting the center spars into the channel, leaving me one or two center spars that could be used somewhere else on the trailer.
A few thoughts come to mind on the base trailer like moving the tongue forward and making a longer box (9 feet) but not really needed to be 9 long.
I want to go with the Grumman.
I also want to make a bunk for our 5 year old so the extra foot longer could help there.
I've found a fan and it's on it's way.
I am trying to find the pages here about wire setups with battery, charger, shore power, and inverter. I remember seeing a great setup where the shore power came in and plugged into the charger to the battery and out to the tear, or you could swap the plug around to the inverter if no shore power was there, but I can not seem to find those discussions now.
Anyway I have about 6 weeks to get something to hold out the weather before I need to take a week trip down to VA and right now I do not have any place to stay making this a good test run if I can get it done.
I will follow along with the Benroy plans here to assist and any other assistance members are willing to toss my way...........
Thank you
Guy
