New LG Reverse TD Owner Saying Hello!

Postby Ratkity » Thu May 27, 2010 8:39 pm

Hello all!

I've been stalkin.. er reading this fabbo website for weeks! What a wonderful source of information you all have accumulated!!!! I am so impressed with the skill and designs of the DIY folks. Your insight and pictures made me realize I didn't want to build my own just yet and I was lucky to get a deal on a 2009 RT Little Guy. This is my first weekend taking it out.

I'm an old popup owner from way back. I had a '90 Coleman Williamsburg (bought used in 93) and had it until last year. BTW, the popup was full loaded with potty, shower cassette, hot water heater, AC, furnance, 3 burner stove, awning... the works. Never failed, one of those "works" would break on an outing. The last straw was the AC leak that ruined the roof. Very stressful.

I wanted something simple that wouldn't hurt my back setting up and didn't have the high maintenance of the popup (clean canvas, air out, chase out ants in the seals, rinse, repeat for every use). I wanted something without water lines, without gas lines, good ventilation, no canvas, no stabilizers and easy to pull. I saw a clip about teardrops on the travel channel and have been obsessing ever since!!

About me: I'm >40 yr old female with 2 goofy golden retrievers and a very old psychotic tortishell cat (Ratkity.. she owns everything, just lets me use it). I love bicycle riding and my yearly highlight is camping at an annual bike ride in VA. My only wish is to keep up with my 77 yr old mother (yes, she can out-ride me).

Thanks for letting me ramble and introduce myself.

Hugs,
Ratkity

I used to own a 1976 pop up trailer with hard plastic sides. It was huge and I prayed everytime I cranked the top up. The last thing I wanted was to travel hours to a campsite and hear the cable snap. I built the tear about 4 yrs ago for much the same reason as you. I love it. Just pull over and open the door. Having a blast with it. randy

Welcome Ratkity,

Hope you have a wonderful and safe holiday weekend. Enjoy your new camper and if you're ever in the Kentucky area - hope to see you around the campground.

Welcome Ratkity!

Did you know that the name of your Little Guy model was born out of this forum??

LG had a contest some time ago to come up with a name for this new model they had coming out and one of our members coined it the "Reverse Tear" and won. If I remember, I think the prize was a 40ft yacht and vacation house in Florida or something like that? ....

(or maybe a hundred dollar gift certificate for LG accessories)

Welcome aboard and congrats on the LG R/T!

I don't recall any other member with an R/T and am really looking forward to your photos.

Thank you for the welcomes!!

I am recovering from a wonderful and successful camping trip with the RT. I shall get a few photos up in a day or so.

I am trying to focus on work instead of how wonderful a weekend it was. So, so hard to do!

The RT was the talk of the campgrounds (of course). Easy as pie to set up, snug and dry during the Friday torrential rains, cool and relaxing all day long with the fantastic fan running.

Hugs,

Congrats on the new teardrop! It's nice to see another camper with an RT. We got ours last year and have had a blast camping with it. I don't think there are a whole lot of us with the RTs.

We're actually about to head out to East Harbor for the weekend - so excited!

Ratkity and Doug,

Nice to have a couple of Little Guy R/T owners here. I had the distinct pleasure of coming up with the name R/T for your trailer design when they first came out. Looking forward to seeing some pictures when you are camping.

A-ha! So you are the culprit.. hehe.. I hope you got something cool for your naming of it.

First camping trip was a total success, with some lessons learned.
