Wish me luck in Mississippi!

Been lurking for a while but now have headed past the point of no return. Northern Tool 5x8 trailer will be in Monday. Angle iron and 2x2x1/4 tubing already waiting for some modification, plans studied, and modified at least 50 times. I've actually first thought about a Teardrop build build years ago but when the wife called and said she'd seen "the cutest little camper" I knew it was on! She doesn't know what monster she has created! Not the most skilled builder but I can hold my own in home repair and decks so I hope that will be enough to get me up and running. Wish me luck and pray for my wife's sanity! :worship:

All right!! Another Mississippian coming out to play in our sandbox!!

Welcome from the NW corner of the Magnolia State (the sign coming into town says "Two miles and 100 years from Memphis").

We now have 6 teardrops that I can geographically locate in Mississippi and one I'm not sure where it's from (other than the fact it has Mississippi tags). :vroom:

:pictures: are normally required of your build process. Without pics, it didn't happen.

Welcome and you have my vote for the Maroon & White color scheme.

My Northern Tool trailer came via UPS in 3 packages on 2 different days. The only thing missing was one crown nut that holds the wheel bearing on - kinda important. I found one at O'Reilly's, but it wasn't as deep as the original equipment. Went to a tractor supply and found one for $1.50.
Nice hardware.

Glad someone got their trailer  !!! I ordered trailer, jack, and upgrade tires. Got the jack then the next Monday the tires, and one box of the trailer parts. Then nothing! Waited a few days because UPS showed it "in transit". Called NT after a week and they sent out a new trailer. Tracked the shipment and it was to be in 10/01 so I made sure I'd be in the office all day. No trailer!!! Checked tracking when I got to my computer. Seem UPS said the shipment was refused damaged by the customer! Problem is I was the only person at the location all day. Called NT again and they called UPS. Trailer was on it's way back to NT. So here I am waiting for NT to ship out the third trailer. I now have 2 "Certificates of Origin" for trailers I don't have! :x On the bright side Northern Tools customer care has been very nice! LOL

NT Trailer

Postby Home Away... » Sun Oct 03, 2010 4:46 pm

The boxes that my NT trailer was shipped in were very poor quality. They should double box them or ship them in wooden crates. The main box was all torn up like a gorilla had attacked it. I was fortunate that only one nut was missing.

Yep the one box I got was all messed up. Not sure if it's all there because there was no parts list. If the next boxes are all messed up I'll make sure I don't need any of the parts from the first box before I return it. I was shooting for an April completion date. Looks like now that may be when I get the trailer!!! ;)

3rd times the charm!!!

Postby GaryJ » Sun Oct 17, 2010 12:18 pm

Well I finally have my trailer. To recap UPS delivered 1 box, lost 1 box, of the first trailer. UPS said I refused the second trailer and returned it to Northern Tool. They lost one of the boxes being returned to NT! A week later I drive up to find a severely mangled box (really just a bunch of tape) at my door. Turns out it's the missing box that NT was looking for. Cross members were missing, only 1 hub and it was missing a lug, only 1 spring, and the fenders were bent all out of shape. Northern Tool got smart and sent the next trailer by Old Dominion Freight Line! They did a great job! I laughed when the driver pointed out a small rip in one of the boxes and was worried that I was OK with the box being damaged! I showed him the UPS box! Well now the trailer is together and construction has begun! :D
