Hello form Denver - New Guy Here

Postby Daddy Bo Daddy » Wed Nov 17, 2010 9:44 pm

I found this site about a week ago and cannot stay away. I have learned so much about this hobby/lifestyle just by reading the posts.

The amount of collective brain-trust here just blows me away.

I am wanting to undertake my own Tear project soon. I can read a plan and follow directions. I'm relatively handy wood with tools. I can measure (twice), cut (once), drill, screw, sand, and finish. My first real job as a teenager was working for a custom display fabrication shop. Now I work for a company that integrates 53' mobile TV production trailers for broadcasting. Not hands-on mind you but as an equipment buyer.

That said, I'm sure that I will have many questions in the coming months. Hardest decision is now, what plans to get? (I'm not so good on developing my own) that's OKAY - there seem to be a bunch out there. Just need a direction.

Just wondering how many Front Range Colorado folks are on this board?

Later Dudes!

Hey neighbor, welcome to the forum! I started with a full sized profile and a diagram from Andrew's site, I made up the rest of it as I built.

Denver here, ( around Evans and Broadway), got the bug a while ago, I have lots of excuses on why I had to build one ( hehehe) I know there are two Denverites more lurking over here, have lots of fun, and post plenty of pics.
This is my build thread...

thanks all -

Two things keep surfacing in my mind about this project -

1. I want to do an Aluminum skin roof. Looking for tips on aluminum skinning but have not come across them yet. Also, Colorado hail can be devastating at times. Any Colorado peeps been in a good hail storm with their Al drop? Any serious damage?

2. That whole back clam shell opening/cover/hinge/seal thingy is kind of keeping me awake sometimes. That seems to be my only weak point.

Welcome from sunny Phoenix!

We had a pretty good hail storm here in the Phoenix area about a month or so ago. Eddie Miller's teardrop got dinged pretty good. Cosmetic only, but as he had just finished it, it was very depressing. :(
God Bless
