Hello from WV

Postby WV Evie » Tue Feb 01, 2011 8:37 pm

I don't have a TD but I'm interested. Tenting is getting old and so am I.

I'm in the Charleston, WV area and relatively new to camping. I've discovered this enjoyable interest in my later years (almost 60) and could kick myself for not trying it sooner.

I'll be looking at all your great pictures of TDs with interest and envy.

Hi Evie,

Welcome to the forum and make yourself at home.

I got into teardrops and tiny trailers so I wouldn't have to sleep on the ground in a tent. So far it has worked pretty well.

Welcome, Evie.

I bought my teadrop about 2 years ago and I am getting close to 60 myself. I love the ease of being able to hook up and go at the drop of a hat.

Thanks for the welcomes. I'm enjoying the site. It's enough right now to read and dream since the weather keeps me from actually camping.

Susann:
Thanks for the link. That's a great page.

Jimbo:
I have family in Portsmouth and drive past Ashland quite often over on 52.
I camp a lot at Beech Fork in Barboursville, WV but I'm planning to hit either Carter Caves or Greenbow this year. Maybe both.

I'll be tenting again this year but I'm seriously considering a TD for next season.

Love all three campgrounds that you mentioned. Between the three, I am very partial to Carter Caves. Always love getting up and hitting the cave tours early while camping. Greenbo is a bit more rustic than the three which is very nice. If you haven't tried the Grayson Lake campground, you might want to consider it. The whole thing is fairly new and the facilities are really nice. I attended Volcano days up near Parkersburg this year but I didn't camp out there. I really liked the park so we may try to camp up there this year.

I have friends who just returned from Grayson. They loved it. It will be on my list.

I have family in Parkers burg and I'm there a lot. I'm camping at North Bend the weekend of May 13/14/15. It's the 17th Annual Bluegrass Festival. This is my 4th year. It's a wonderful time if you like Bluegrass or just a great time with friends even if you don't. You don't have to attend the music show.

My 2 little g-nephews camp with me and their mom and dad show up for day events. Mom is not much of a camper. :( They are my Parkersburg family.

Happy Camping

Welcome Evie!

There is a WV chapter on Tearjerkers.net. They are coming to a tri-chapter meet on June 10-12th in the Shenandoah National Park area. We welcome everyone, including envious tenters!! I am part of the Chesapeake Bay Chapter and the Virginia Chapter is coming along too.

Once you come see what people have built or bought, you'll be doublie smitten. I promise!

We have a great bunch of folks who have lots of fun.

Hugs,
Ratkity
