Hi from Nebraska!

Hi Everyone ... brand new to this site obviously and still trying to find my way around.

I currently own a 67 Shasta LoFlyte but am really wanting a small canned ham camper. I've tried to find one but they're either very expensive (aka over my budget) or nonexistant.

So, being that hubby and I demolished a 68 Compact last year due to the fact that it was a disaster to start with, I'm thinking it might be more economical in the long run to just build one on the existing chassis.

Does anyone have any thoughts? I've been trying to find plans online and was led to this forum. However, this is where the newbie in me comes out .. where can I find plans to build a canned ham?

I don't want a teardrop (no offense to teardrol lovers), I'm looking more for a traditional 10 foot canned ham. I have no clue how to even begin a project like this but I know I want one that I can put an aluminum skin on since being in Nebraska, it's quite windy year round and we get snow/rain/ice in the winter.

Anyway, nice to "meet" all of you!

you could do what a lot of people do and that is find a vintage trailer that needs restoration this will give you the plans that you need. find one with all the interior that is complete, i think it is easier to rebuild then. i see trailers all the time on cragslist and ebay and remember, always look when you are out an about... little trailers are everywhere you just have to keep your eyes open. now even my wife will point out a trailer that she sees in somebodys backyard

click on the picture to go to my restoration, it took 2 months working on the weekends and afterwork, summer months = longer days to work. still not finished always something to add
the trailer pictured is a 1957 cardinal with a 12.5ft box 14ft including the tounge

good luck it will be an adventure

Thanks guys .. I'm now the proud owner of a tiny little 1961 Forester. I expanded my craigslist search a bit farther out and picked it up in Des Moines, IA today.

It needs a good polishing (but the guy polished a portion of it to prove it would shine up) and the interior needs some redoing but that's fine because I want to change a few things anyway (namely the bed & storage configuration).

Funny how things work out huh? I will definitely be checking out all the stuff you all have done ... nice to have found a place that caters to the tiny little trailers. :)
