I need advice on what kind of equipment I need to buy before building my trailer project? I don’t have anything
I have prepared a budged of 1500 US maybe it’s not enough but it have to do as its lot of money to spend  . Hopefully I don’t need that mush that will be great :worship:

I know I want to buy welding machine  (I’m new in the welding world my level is zero  ) I was thinking of
The 120V types of welders  …100 amps. But I don’t know maybe it wouldn’t be powerful enough for projects with larger steel components, such trailer frames

Please advice what kind/brand I need to have for building a trailer

Do I post this question somewhere else?

Thanks in advance

Tools and equipment.

With a limited budget and no welding experience, I would purchase a frame already built or salvaged from another trailer, Welding equipment is expensive and if you plan to use it for this project, your money would be better spent on a welding class at a local college or trade school and see if they will let you build it in class as a project. The frame is the foundation of your trailer, safety is a issue as well, Look for salvage materals to keep your costs down, but purchase the best materals you can afford, so it will last, and take your time, especially in the design stage so it will be what you need the first time around. Good luck and welcome. Bill

Welcome Aziz!

Spend lots of time reading other peoples build journals, thats how I planned my build. Its an easy way to avoid problems others have already encountered.

Welding

Postby es009d7705 » Wed Mar 09, 2011 3:02 pm

Hi Aziz, Evan here from Scotland Welcome to the forum. I built mine for similar reasons as you. I wanted to continue taking my Grandsons on camping weekends but wanted something a bit more comfortable than a windy old tent so when I discovered this forum I found my answer. My Daughter got me a wee cheap arc welder for my birthday and I just looked on the net to find out how to weld. There are plenty of tutorials there ie " Migwelding the DIY guide" and with a bit of practice you will pick it up no problem. Any Questions you need to ask just go build journals and teardrop construction tips and dont spend money if you dont need to. I built mine using as much salvaged materials as possible by watching what my neighbours were throwing out that I could use. I reckon it only cost me about £400.00 all in and you can see how on my build journal" Rover Returns" Happy building, Ev. You know the destination but not the duration so enjoy the journey 8)
