Hello from So-cal

Postby mojoey » Sat Mar 12, 2011 6:49 pm

Hi everyone!

I'm looking for an all-aluminum+foam insulation trailer (no wood to rot!) that will fall under my '08 CRV's 1500 tow capacity and has 110v interior outlets. I was looking at little guy and so-cal teardrops and I think the so-cal is big enough where it would be perfect .... if it weren't for the wood. I know pop-ups fall under this category but again I want only metal and foam, no fabrics, on the outside.

Does anyone know of anything that might work? Or perhaps would be willing to build me one for a price? I'm not a DIY type of guy and Im actually disabled so I can't really get myself to become one.

Love all the great info I've gotten from this forum!

Welcome aboard! I wouldn't worry about wood in So. Cal...but if that's your goal...you are most likely going to have to have one custom built. There are some out of production fiberglass units around, but can't remember the name right now. Another option...get a cargo conversion or have one done up to your specs. Doug

Hello Joey, and a hardy welcome from a fellow So California teardropper. Oh shame, you are talking smack about the love of my life........Wood! I built a full-blown, all wood woody teardrop 8 years ago, have pulled it about 30,000 miles in all kinds of weather and it is still going strong, (which means no dry rot, wet rot, mold, failing joints, and most importantly, doesn't leak a drop, even in a driving rain.)

If you are at all interested in discussing teardrop building, regardless of what materials you choose, swing on by my place sometime. I'm probablly about an hour from your place. I live in Wildomar, which is about 25 miles south of Corona, just off of the I-15. The coffee is always on and perhaps the trip would be benificial.

You probably know that the biggest, all-teardrop gathering in the world, is going to take place at Lake Perris, March 24 to 27. Checking out this event would surely be helpful and perhaps line you up with the perfect rig you are wanting. Walk-ins are always invited, and you will be able to check out about 150 teardrop trailers of all types and description. Lake Perris is 3 1/2 miles west of I-215 and 5 miles south of I-60. Hope to see you, look me up, I'll probably have the only 6 ft long teardrop there.
