Still....another Okie!

Howdy all,

Looks like we've caught the bug too! My wife and I are looking to build a teardrop this fall. Just now trying to figure out size and profile. Also debating on whether to go new or used for the trailer bed and axle.....

We drove up from Tulsa last weekend to Minden, Nebraska for the International teardrop Gathering and met loads of nice folks. Can't wait to have a finished Teardrop so we can join the fun. Got lot's of great ideas.

Would love to hook-up with other Okies (and anyone else for that matter) and talk trailers. Maybe we can figure our some things together!

I've done lot's of woodwork so everything above the trailer and axle looks pretty straightforward. I wished I knew how to weld.....

Looking forward to meeting folks and getting onto the project!

Hey Bob, I'm in Tulsa and have Teardrop , Tiny and Vintage trailers. Be glad to visit. Did you see the teardrop on Craigslist-Tulsa?

Hey Bob ! Welcome to this new adventure! This is the best forum and these are the NICEST camping folks I could ever imagine.

I live near OKC ... what part of the state are you located? The South Central is pretty active, and the North Central (and KAMO email group) includes Oklahoma too .

If you want to see one in person, and would like to look at mine, it will be at my boyfriend's place in McLoud. We've got some finishing to do.

Welcome Bob. We live in Tulsa, actually just east at Catoosa. We have 3 TD's and a Vardo Gypsy Wagon. Would love to show ours off. Where do you live? Maybe the locals could all get together for the day somewhere and show off our TD's. We also have one for sale. Contact us any time.

Hey all!

Postby Kalama Bob » Tue Jun 28, 2011 10:14 pm

Thanks for the warm welcome. My wife and I are in Tulsa. This looks like it will be a fun group to get to know!

Reo-Ron, I did not see the teardrop on Craigslist, however I did find a rusty old trailer just this evening that I gave a whole $75 dollars for!

It appears to be the remnants of an old auto frame, but it has a great axle and standard sized tires. I guess I'm committed now!

With a few minor modifications, it ought to leave room for a small 4 x 8 sized footprint. I like the looks of the old timer tears and I think this trailer fits the bill.

I'm not a welder but I can get around a woodshop well enough.....!

Do any of you locals ever get together for coffee or something?

Welcome to the forum. Set a time and place for a coffee get together, see what happens. Work might get in the way, but I'll try to make it.
