Wanted to stop in again as I prepare to finally get started on my build. Originally, the designs I saw here of TT's were the direction we were going in, until a fellow TT'r stopped by our store and showed me his build....needless to say, the redesign started immediately. His design utilized aircraft fabric (PolyFiber) over an aluminum frame...wow, fully loaded his trailer only weighed an estimated 450lbs! Needless to say, weight has been my biggest concern (motorcycle towed!), so, I redesigned the unit and as a result found that my calculations had my total trailer weight around 275lbs, I started playing with the shape! Our build begins next week(waiting on aluminum tube to be delivered), and the final design will look more like a mini-toy hauler! Since the primary purpose was to haul our girls (large dogs), cargo and the occasional camping trip while on the bike the design was enlarged to have 8' of internal space plus another 2' of cargo area, giving the trailer an overall length of 13'4". Imagine a Keystone MXT toy hauler in miniature!
Will be back soon with progress pictures and details on using the PolyFiber Fabric!
Later gators and gatorettes!
