Hi everyone,

I've been lurking for a few weeks now, reading your great and helpful posts and it is time I stopped to catch my breath and say "hi" to you all.

I had never even seen a teardrop trailer, until a few weeks ago on Craigslist. We (DH & I) had been entertaining the idea of a tent trailer, but weren't really certain that was the trailer for us. But after seeing the teardrop photos, we immediately felt the NEED for one. We took it home 2 days after seeing it.

The teardrop is a 4x8 Cubby that needed some love. It is only a 2004 build, but the hurricane hinge wasn't installed quite right, so there was some water damage in the galley. We knew this going in, and have been spending every spare moment thinking about this teardrop, working on it, and ordering things for it $$$.

So, in the past two weeks, we have removed the galley door, some of the trim and hurricane hinge. We've gutted the galley, rebuilt the galley (my way), added some more lighting and installed a new stereo system. It is really starting to come together, and we are just waiting for a delivery of the new hurricane hinge, pneumatic supports (sorry I don't know the right name) etc. to finish it off.

Fortunately for me (and my endless list of wants and needs) my husband is very handy, and I can certainly see how he would want to build one from the ground up one day, but for now, this mini-restoration project will have to do. At the moment, for me, it is all about the galley and I can't wait to get out there and enjoy this teardrop.

We have our first camping reservations coming up in 10 days, so the deadline to have it finished has been set.

Cheers,
Michelle

Welcome to the madness. You are about to start on a glorious adventure.
My wife and I spent two days before and three days after, a cruise in your wonderful city. Had a great time. Experienced the joy of the Stanley cup fever but left the day before game seven.

Absolutely. As soon as we've finished the galley I will add some before, during and afters.

I was cruising from Vancouver too (to Alaska of course) during the same time (you weren't on the Disney Wonder were you?). I'm glad you enjoyed your visit. And you certainly had great timing to end your trip when you did!

Nice Tear

Postby Playtym » Sun Jul 31, 2011 11:31 pm

For all of you out there that always want to see pictures of forum member's trailers, I can assure you that seeing them in real life is much better! I can vouch for the fact that Michelle's teardrop is indeed cute and the modification she and her husband are making will make it an even better experience for her family.

It was very nice meeting you and thanks for providing us with the requisite TOUR of your rig!

I hope your Teardrop provides you with a wealth of pleasant experiences and memories for your family.

It was a pleasure to meet you and Sherry, Buff. And your TOUR of your rig was greatly appreciated. I love all the smart storage compartments and thoughtful design ideas that you've worked into the interior.

It was great to have our first encounter with fellow-teardroppers being the two of you, and we hope to cross your path again during our trips in to beautiful Washington.

Cheers,
Michelle
