Hey Becky, I love your story. We can really identify with your kind of camping and to know you actually love small spaces and keeping it about the experience and not the trappings. Saying that, I did make ours our "vacation home" and loved decorating it. However, even though we have 110 wired, we have never used it and probably never will, we barely even touch the battery even being gone for a week. I was the one to investigate and convinced my husband Randy that we wanted one and the he wanted to design and build one. And we had a great time building! Have a great time, the process is almost as much fun as using it. My husband would like to say it is finished, but I will always be added and improving. My husband hates the following when I say it "I was thinking..." He knows it probably means more work for him.

Debbie,

I just looked at your build thread and photo album. Your tear is just gorgeous and I love the way you finished it out. It looks so homey and inviting. I am looking forward to that process as well. I love working with wood, sewing and all those finishing touches that go into creating a warm and welcoming environment.

Am I correct that your walls are not insulated? It looked that way to me, but it's hard to tell sometimes from pictures. If not, do you regret not doing it? I am not planning to insulate the walls, only the floor and ceiling. But we are fair weather campers. No interior climate control is planned other than the Fantastic vent fan.

We are planning on 12v lights and fan, radio/cd player, propane stove (already purchased), and 2 110v outlets, one in the galley and one in the cabin. Pretty basic, but it's camping right? We never had anything more than this on our boats and we lived aboard for 4 years. Showers in campgrounds without facilities will be a garden sprayer with a shower head attached.

I hope to meet up with you someday soon!

Becky

I meant the CAMPGROUND didn't have facilities, not that WE didn't. Porta potty, of course, and a nice pump up sprayer filled with warm water makes a great shower, try it. The shower room goes without saying. At our age, NOBODY wants to see THAT!!
