Although my camper is not completely done, my 14 year old daughter and I headed off to Vermont for a four night tour going about 400 miles when said and done. No issues other than a slight leak on top of my door during a nasty thunder/hail storm as I have not gotten around to putting on a gutter yet. All I could think was how my new aluminum roof would fair and it did fine. Not one dent I could see so it didn't hail too badly I guess. And I averaged one less mile per hour than I usually do without the trailer to boot.
Thanks for all the great info here and from some vendors. I actually didn't see this site until I was well along in the process. I certainly learned a lot in the process of building this thing over the past 6 months. Time for another one? Perhaps...
I started with stuff I had accumulated from my house I built about 9 years ago, steel I got from the scrap bin at work and a snapped axle I pulled from the steel pile at the recycling center in town. I built the trailer from scratch relying on E Trailer for lots of parts (great prices and service).
I still have to finish some on the interior and a few loose ends, but it is usable. Planning another trip before fall.
Thanks again from New Hampshire. For those that never heard of New Hampshire, it is in New England, home of the Patriots!! (Ha Ha).
