Hi,

I am from northern California and I use to be fun, camped all the time. Wife hates tents now, and in all honesty, so do I. A teardrop seems to be the answer. It is a comfortable rolling bed with a kitchen attached and no lawn to mow... a 40 square foot getaway fantasy!

Any advice is greatly appreciated...

A teardrop is a great way to upgrade your body to camping comfort..... once you've gotten past the backpacking and tent camping phase of your life. Bring your wife for a look at one of the local gatherings, or you can even rent a teardrop for your wife and yourself to try out. I went through the phase of never wanting to set up a tent again. Check out all the free plans and drawings at the top of the forum page, pick one and start building.

Hi Steven, welcome to the forum. Looks like there might be a teardrop trailer in your future. Pay attention to what Teardrop Nanny said, check out the IRG and see if you can find some sort of rig to sleep in. That gathering is one that is unlike many others. Everyone has a great time, right there in the heart of the huge redwoods. I wouldn't miss it, ever.

Hey Steve , well you are in now. There is no escape. Soon your family will wonder what happened to you. You will become a fun loving camper once again. Oh yea and you will be in the garage 90% of your waking life. Enjoy.

Dont let Steve fool you. He is a friend of mine and he is an expert builder. This is his first tear but I expect he will build like Tom does. He is a real good guy and will fit right in here. Oh yea I forgot to mention that if you see him at a gathering he and his wife will be the ones with the stacks of freshly made cream fill crepes. Steaming with your choice of topping. No joke I have seen it. and lived it.
