Jello all and thank you for building such a great community and building such great campers. I was having a hard time finding a small trailer that I could pull behind my little Toyota and not spend over $10,000. Then I stumbled upon teardrop trailers and the tears of joy began to flow. Here was something that would upgrade our tent camping, have all the basics that we need, and I could build it myself without breaking the bank. Ahhhh.... Nirvana.
Now a bit about myself. I am a baker by trade and have been at it since the early 80's. I had very little woodworking skill other than shop class in junior high school until we bought our first home. It was brand new and we needed a fence, then came the garage and to develop the basement. Over the next few years I would gain basic skills enough that in our new home I have built the entertainment centre, coffee table, telephone wall stand, lamps, window shoji screens, and am presently in the middle of a built in bookcase project (the second one).
If all goes well I hope to make a teardrop a winter project for 2011-2012. I have not picked a final design but have been reading and downloading everything I can, including the GenBen plans. I am considering Steve's shop manual as well. I like the idea of the fiberglassed wood walls.
Thanks again and I hope you can all bear with the avalanche of inevitable questions.
