Hello from Southern California

Postby rcarlson » Thu Sep 15, 2011 3:50 pm

Hello,

My name is Robert, my family and I live in Hemet CA…

I have been lurking on here for awhile; reading the build journals and so much more. We will take the plunge soon and get started on our Teardrop over the winter. My son (11) is going to help and he is looking at what Boy Scout merit badges he can earn with this project (or at least help to earn).

We really like the idea of the galley kitchen, just park raise the back hatch and poof you are set up!!!

This forum is just a WEALTH of great information and has been so very helpful in putting ideas together for our build.

Should be able to complete woodworking, a good start on Safety, Camping, Cooking (have to plan and cook the family meal while your working on it or at the ER  ) I think there is an automotive one that is being brought back from the elder days.

Welcom to the forum, Robert. Good for you, planning to build your own teardrop trailer. Living in Hemet, you probably know where the Harbor Freight store is, right there on Florida. (I spent some months out there in Hemet, when I built the new Sears Store behind the mall). Many builders have used a HF trailer for their builds.

If you want to head on down the road a few miles, I live in Wildomar, between the I-15 and I-2-15, and I can show you a couple of teardrops I've built, right here in my driveway. I am always anxious to share my insites and building tips with prospective builders. So, swing on by and we will talk TD trailers. Send me a PM is you are interested. Remember, the coffee is always on.
:) 8) ;) Roly, the li'l ol' So Calif Woody guy.

A hearty welcome to ya Robert ! Do take up Roly on his invite ... that man is a MAGICIAN with wood !

My Little Guy 4 wide has NO kitchen( galley) and now I wish I hadn't removed the framework for it. I gotta figure out how to reinstall it now !

Let the sawdust fly !!!

I sure did... (can not pass on an offer like that) I sent him a PM and am looking froward to the cup of coffee and learning all that I can. He is only about 20 min away from me. I can not say enough good things about his work as well.

Welcome

Hey Robert,

Welcome to the T&TTT forum from the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of Western NC. My camper was a "family" build, and my crew are very proud to tell people they helped build it! It was a lot of fun building it, made a lot of good memories, too. Recently we had fun camping in it for the first time. Welcome and keep us posted as to your progress!
