8' long, 52" wide, fits a true full size mattress

Came in nearly $150 under budget at a total build cost of $850.

built off of used 4x8 HFT, plywood sides, insulated roof, covered in FRP paneling and coated with Krylon UV Clear, RV emergency escape windows for doors. 12/120v system with inverter/charger and 115 amp hr deep cycle

Trailer = freebie
$600 in lumber & build materials, everything else such as doors and h20 pump came from pick your part junkyard and my personal junk pile

Left to do: interior lighting, hardline propane plumbing, find/fix any potential water leaks

one weekend trip to the beach=success!! i love this trailer, though i didnt have a dog when i started it. i guess i need to add a puppy wing

BTW, my name is Matt. I hope to see some of you camping or on the road in So Cal!

I will be mostly beach camping as the weather cools down, but i plan to do death valley and the southern Sierras in springtime

check out my album for build pics!

Nice build! What did you use for the roof rack? Any tips on mounting the rack?

The rack itself is a 45x50" lite weight aluminum made by Surco. i removed it from a jeep that i sold many years ago, but they still sell them for around $200. I made brackets out of steel unistrut and unistrut 90 degree brackets (home depot) and bolted 1" thin wall conduit between the brackets to support the rack. The unistrut brackets are bolted thru the sidewall of the trailer.

it will easily hold 60-80 lbs of gear, perfect for chairs, fishing rods, canopy, etc

Nice build. Did you make it from the forum's Generic Benroy Plans?

I see you even have a flag pole to fly our flag on. Are you a veteran as well as a supporter?

Thanks! It is similar to the generic benroy, but I really didnt use any plans, just built to suit.

I am a supporter, but not a veteran. I do, however, have many close friends and family members who are veterans, active duty and law enforcement. My soon-to-be father in-law, a retired career Seabee, flys a flag from nearly everything he owns. I decided to make it a tradition!
