New van and boat

Postby Perttu » Thu Oct 06, 2011 4:59 am

Hi I come from Finnland and started to build my van, which I called carawhale.
It should be ready next spring and I am hoping to do some travel with it on roand and on small protected waters.

Thanks
Perttu

You have some clever ideas there. What are the dimensions - it looks like quite a big trailer for a teardrop - maybe 1.8m x 3.6m (6'x12')?

One idea - how about putting the hatch hinge and stays on tracks, so that the hatch can either be stood up as a windscreen, like you've shown, or lifted slightly and slid forwards onto the fixed roof to give you a completely open 'cockpit'.

I've also been thinking about the device you need so that you can pick up the bow (front) rope if you drop it in the water.....

Looks a bit heavy fer one person to git it to the water.

How does one steer it ? What is yer propulsion ?

What a clever idea ! I'm sure everyone wants to know more...

Welcome to this great forum.

You've got a nice original idea there.

Best of luck finishing the design and doing the build.

Keep us informed and provided with progress pics!

We'll all be curious.

Cheers,

Hi

Thanks for comments!
I will post photos later- when I have proseed a bit futher. Now I have cut the sidepanels and glued some framing to them.

Trailer might need somekind of winch or trolley - lets see.

I have 2hp yamaha and trollig motor - so I am going to use those. The wooden back grill will be made from 3 parts and one part will be romowed when outboard is attached. Outboard can allso be fastened to one side while wan is used on land.

Inside bench can be used as table or pushed back "under the back deck" so it would not be on way.

I continue this thread on : http://tnttt.com/viewtopic.php?t=46755
forum - if intrested.

Thanks

If a fellow can cross the Atlantic in a 5'4" boat I think you have a shot. Me, I'd rather carry my 10' Archilles inflatable with my 6hp Johnson.

Looks like you really want to get away from it all. Good luck with your build.
