Back from a long absence!

This is Chris from Indianapolis...not a newbie, but thought I'd post here since it's been sooooo long since I've been around. I built a 4x8 Cubby teardrop back around '04 or '05...had it a few years and then had to sell it due to the purchase of a new house at the time. After that, I had a popup camper for a time, but it's gone now. Just on a whim, I came back over to the forum here to check things out and suddenly got the itch to build!! :D

Fast forward 24hours and I've already found and purchased a used 5x8 utility trailer to build on! Found a great deal on craigslist here locally so I jumped on it. The plan right now is to build a 5x8 Weekender, but that's not in stone yet.

Here's my first teardrop as it looked in '05....

It's long gone now...sold it to some nice folks from down in Louisiana I think? Not sure where it is now.

Here's the beginning of the new project.....my $200 5x8 trailer. :) It's very heavy duty and solid....needs the bearings gone through and new wheels/tires, etc, but overall a good trailer for the price! It had a rotten plywood floor and about 200lbs or more of rotten treated lumber built into side walls. Within 30 minutes of having it in the driveway, it was all stripped off.

First order of business this weekend is to sandblast and paint this frame and work on the axle. More to come!

So glad to be back and have a project to work on. Looking forward to reconnecting with some of you!

Welcome back, Indy! I'll look forward to seeing the progress of your new build. I cheated and bought a manufactured 2012 Little Guy Silver Shadow a few weeks back. I haven't been out in it yet...my S/O John is up in your neck of the woods in Portland, IN for the summer. I'm not retired just yet...sighs...but we're planning some awesome trips when it happens! ;)
Every morning brings a clean canvas...paint a beautiful picture,

Hi Chris
Welcome back.
By the looks of your last teardrop, you should have no problems with this build.
Please keep us up to speed with your build.
