My wife and I have camped and slept in assorted tents, small to large, RV's from a Boler to a 23 ft Class C, in the back of a pickup and even slept in the rear of our Bronco II and now out Jeep Cherokee XJ. It's getting a tad difficult in the XJ what with sometimes needing to keep all the food inside overnight as well as sleep the 2 of us. We don't want another large RV, we don't like tents as much as we did 30+ years ago, so we started thinking about a tiny trailer.
I have a 5x8 Northern Tool flatbed that can be re-purposed; it is virtually new. We're planning a simple unit, mainly just a sleeper. I'm going to deviate from the traditional airfoil-like shape though. Plus I'll extend the tongue, I like a tongue that lets me open the XJ's rear tire carrier all the way when hitched. We have had well organized galley equipment for years and will continue to use that. We'll drag it behind the XJ which is modified so I'll think about switching to a larger diameter wheel. Dirt roads will be definitely in the picture but I don't intend to drag it over some of the very rocky stuff we sometimes do. That's the plan.
