Sunshine State Newbie here!

Postby Bushdog45 » Wed Jan 23, 2013 9:04 pm

Hello all from Florida, I just joined the forum after surfing it for quite awhile and am amazed at all the great info. here on building and outfitting TT's and cargo trailers. I have been wanting to make a toy hauler for awhile now and recently ordered a 6x14 SA cargo trailer that will be used for camping, canoe/fishing expeditions and bike hauling. I plan to KISS method it and will mostly use 12v. DC powered items like lights, fans, cell phone chargers, etc. so I'll probably post questions about wiring and battery selection in the electrical section. I hope to post pics once I get the trailer and get started. You all seem like a great bunch of people, lots of talent here! Thanks for having me! 8)

Welcome Bushdog!

The madness is contagious and you will get the disease.

There are a lot of great folks in here that are willing and able to answer almost all of your questions from start to finish.

good luck on your build. What part of Florida are you in? I am in Orlando if you have question that I may assist with.

Bushdog, welcome to the forum, and good for you, ordering a 6 x 14 trailer that you plan to convert into a wonderful camping rig. I am sure there are a bunch of folks on this forum that can relate to your enthusiasm, planning to alter a standard utility trailer to a wonderful out-of-site multi-use camping trailer. There are probably a bunch of others that have done the same thing, and will probably respond to your ideas and will hopefully give you some advice regarding their experiences during their builds. Good luck on your efforts and be sure to ask any questions that you have. We are here to help, just ask and someone will answer.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. I am in the Tampa area Rod and have family over near Orlando. One question I do have is what brand/size deep cycle battery can you recommend ? I am thinking wet cal mounted on trailer tongue to power a couple LED lights, fantastic fan and charge cell phone. Thanks in advance.

Welcome again ...

I went 120 on my build and not 12v at all. There is a section on 12v additions here on the forum.
Let my know when you are in Orlando and I will be happy to show you by build.
