Ex GMCer going Tiny

Postby hwitten » Thu Feb 14, 2013 7:01 pm

Have owned a Classic GMC for 20+ years. Lack of use and increased mtce requirements caused me to find it a new home. I used to do I5 often and also criss-crossed the US a few times. When I sold it it had 325k miles on it) The best thing about having your pillow with you is that you can sleep when, where and for how long you want. I.e. many a nap in Rest Areas on long trips.

That's what I miss most, the convenience of the when, where and how long stops are. I can be dead tired and as soon as I check into a Hotel, wide awake for many hours.

So.... I'm looking around for a tiny trailer to serve as an overnight and just a place to veg during a trip. I do want to be able to sit normal so that leaves out the traditional Teardrops that I've seen so far. Of interest to me is the ProLite Suite and 3Feathers BackPacker 2 and anything else that may be suggested to have a look at.

Had never seen the 3 Feathers trailers. Saw one of the Pro-lites in Canada and was not totally impressed with it.
Have you seen Vistabule?

Had not heard of the vestibule. Taking a closer look. Looks like it might pass the "normal sitting" test, Re impression of the Suite, what caused the negative impression, build quality, room, etc?

I have a car-go lite, made by microlite trailers, and it might suite you, if you don't need a kitchen area in the back. It is 5x8, and four foot high the whole length of the cabin. kind of boxy. My 6'5+ hubby feels comfortable in it. .they also make a 5x10.5 taller unit called a Microlite extreme..... We like ours a lot

BTW, my cargolite w/ AC was about $6800, if I remember correctly. The vestibule looks nice, but would be too hot for Texas-waaaaay too much glass.

I have the microlite extreme... love it and you can stand up in and it comes in at just over 1k lbs with microwave, fridge, small stove and air. has two benches and portable table that turns into a queen size bed.

Go to http://microlitetrailer.com/MLThome2a.htm for more details...
