Greetings from a newbie in FL.

Postby spbiknut » Thu Feb 21, 2013 8:45 pm

Hello all! Just joined the site, but have been lurking for about a year on and off. I'm finally pulling the trigger and in the initial planning and gathering stage. I've read several post and will say that I'm impressed with the wealth of knowledge and fellowship on the site. I'm looking forward to gaining more knowledge from all of you as I go through the build. BTW is it custom to post a build thread with pictures and under what top level topic should I do so?

Thanks!

Welcome Troy

Yup you got it right. introduce yourself here and make some good friends.
When you're starting to work on your design there is a section for kicking around ideas and asking questions
about your design.

Member Designs - “Did you just design your very own teardrop or tiny trailer? Want to discuss it? Here's the
place to post your design for discussion!”

Once you're ready to make the saw dust fly, assemble your trailer, Gut an old trailer, or redo an used trailer you
should start a new thread in the

Build Journals - “...ask your questions in the appropriate forums BUT document your build here...preferably
in a single thread...dates for updates, are appreciated....”

Just keep posting your upgrade progress in the same Build Journals thread you started.

Again welcome to the forums and enjoy your build.

Welcome to the forum, Troy. Just where are you located in the Sunny state of Florida? My wood-worker son, just relocated to Tampa, and he soon will get involved with teardrops and tiny trailers there as well. He has a Kenskill 10 ft Standy, and is looking forward to a chance to go camping. You should check out the Florida Tearjerkers website, perhaps there are some builders and/or users near you. Seeing one in person and talking to the owner, is worth it's weight in gold prior to your build. Good luck on your build, and remember to ask questions and take pics, we love pics.

Terry & Roly,

Thanks for the warm welcome! And thanks for the information. I'll check out the build threads (never even saw that topic...getting old!) and will look into the local Tearjerkers club. Roly, I live in St. Pete so Tampa and just across the bridge...maybe someday I can meet your son and we can brainstorm ideas and such. I'm in step 1 this weekend with organizing the garage and getting my welder and chop saw out of storage. Will start a build thread the minute the first arc takes place on the frame. 8)

Have a great day fellas!

Another thought would be to start an Album here on the Forum.
It will show up as an icon just below your Avitar. :pictures:
That way others here on the Forum can see your pictures any time without having to find you in the build journal section.
It is also an easy way to include a picture in any of your posts, by going to your album, picking a picture and hitting the insert into post button.
You can look at my album under my avitar....the image # tells you how many pictures are in my Album.
Good Luck with your build!

Brian,

Awesome information! Thanks! I took a look at your photos and got to so they are amazing! Great job on that!
I'll make sure to setup the same thing once I get started...might be a couple of weeks though.

So step 1a is compete...got some stuff out of storage, called in my order to metal shop and ordered a torsion axle. Once everything gets in I'll start and official build thread...I tend to be very detailed and since this is all new to me I'll be asking a lot of questions and posting a lot of info and pictures. I will post my initial plans on the first page of the build thread so anyone reading it please feel free to critique any and all! I need all the help and motivation that i can get! :pictures:
