hello all, I am new to this type of building. I am a retired Ironworker/welder/ and have taken on a rebuild/make new..... of a tear drop shaped 1950 Rolla. it is 16 feet long at midpoint on a12 foot long steel frame. the steel frame rebuild and wall framing were pretty straight forward using Steve Fredericks inside out method from his cd. but at the skining stage there are a few questions i have on how to proceed.Glue roof aluminun or float? exposed screws on sidewalls or 12 inch s-lock type siding? I am looking forward to getting to know all of you.

Welcome to the forum!

The folks on the forum are the best and you should have no problem getting information and motivation here. You might find the answer to many in Sdtripper2's Index above. Sounds like you should have no problem building a tear with your current skills. Hope your build goes good and you enjoy your build.

8) Hello and welcome to the forum, Greg!
Click on the link below (IRG) to find out about the event hosted this past summer. This site will give you an idea of some of the people who are in the NO. CAL. area, as well as those who travel here. I'm located in Humboldt County on the coast....how about you??

hello all, after a very long time going through all sdtrippers links I think I have a grip on how to proceed.
If I figure out how to post pics, I wil post some of the progress. there a few structural details I do not think have been seen here.
I am located one hour west of Santa Rosa on the beautiful Sonoma county coast.
I think you are getting rain this week up in humboldt county, we have not seen rain since MARCH!

Hi and welcome to the Board. We camped at Bodega Dunes Campground couple of weeks ago, actually the 2nd trip there this summer with the Tear, Love the Sonoma Coast. The Friday we were there it rained for about 2 hours kinda light but was nice to see rain after 4 months of dry.

8) Back again, gregh, and isn't amazing what the people on this forums can (and will) do for one another.

:applause:

You are close enough to do a trip up to the Mendo Gathering next year as well as some of our informal Redwood Gatherings. Dean (of the Redwoods) and I will be setting up some informal gatherings for the Summer of 09. Won't that be fine? On the odd numbered years we plan to post a set of dates (a window period) where people could come out to the spot right next door to Pamplin Grove, Swimmer's Delight Campground, and camp. No advance reservations are taken, so you never know quite what to expect availability wise, but on prior campouts
we were able to take up about 5-6 sites, and fit in just fine. I'm sure we can make some kind of arrangement with the Rangers there again.

Keep us posted,
TDN
