The resizing can be a problem -- I don't seem to have any software at hand to do that. So I left my pics on my own web site, and just posted a link to them.

I think some forums can re-size what you try to post. That might be helpful, though I don't know how hard it is to set up.

Just about every computer has some kind of software to edit photos. Some are easier to use than others. If you have Windows Office than you probably have a program called "Microsoft Office Photo Manager".

This program is fairly simple to use.
1. Right click on the photo and then select "Open With".
2. Then select "Microsoft Office Photo Manager". The photo will open in the program.
3. On the tool bar select "Edit Pictures".
4. On the right side a panel will open. Select "Resize".
5. Click on "Predefined width x height:".
6. Choose "Document - Small (800 x 600px)".
7. Click on the "OK" button. Your picture will now be the right size.
8. Save the picture. Make sure to select "Save As" and rename the picture so that it will not save over your original picture.

If you do not have "Microsoft Office Photo Manager" you can try this.

1. Have the folder open where the picture is saved.
2. Select the photo or multiple photos if you are resizing several.
3. Select "Email this file" on the left side panel. A popup will open.
4. Select "Make all my pictures smaller" on the popup.
5. Click on the "OK" button. A draft email will open with all the pictures that you selected as attachments.
6. Send the email to yourself.
7. Open the new email and then save the new smaller pictures. Again rename them to not save over your original picture.
8. As a side note. You do not have to actually email the photos to yourself. Once the draft email opens with the picture attachments on step 5, you can just right click on the picture file attachments and save them.

Hope this helps.

None of the above --- I'm on a Macintosh! I have occasionally found which piece of software will make pics smaller, but I forget which it is. iPhoto, maybe.

Welcome to the forum John

Try Fotosizer

Freeware available at http://www.fotosizer.com/
Resize 1 or 100 with a few clicks. no annoying popups, no time limit, does not resize the original. Several size choices. I've been using it for a couple of years and very happy with it.

Wow, somehow I overlooked this, sorry John.

For dealing with picture posting there is a link up top Help with photos if you follow the link above (or mine) it will show you with images and very good instructions exactly how.

The jist of it is:
Code: Select all

For resizing on the Imac the easiest way I have found is:
Select the picture in iPhoto,
Select the Email icon in the bottom right,
Select size Medium,
When your Email opens select the attachment and save it somewhere that you can find it again,
From your album here upload it from that location.

I hope this helps (or works).
