Hello from Red Cub

Postby Redcub » Sun Sep 23, 2012 8:48 am

Hi, I just want to say hello!
I'm picking up my first new teardrop the end of Oct or start of Nov. I can not wait. I'm having it built in Lubbock, Texas by Roger Juno. I have seen some of his pictures on E-bay and it is one of the finest teardrops I have ever seen. I decided to not put the fan on top and have two fans built in in the inside.
My teardrop will be red with black fenders in a true 1940s style. I can't wait.

I look forward to checking out new camp areas and learning more about the people on here that share my same passion.

See you out there camping!

Thank you all for the warm welcome! I was hoping that by now I would be traveling in my new teardrop. It is not finished.
I ordered this tear drop last Sept and have paid in full for it. It is now the middle of January and I sure would like to be making memories in it.
What do you think is a reasonable time to get a custom make teardrop finished? Thank you.

I finally picked up my teardrop camper on February 8th. It's a 1940s looking red and white double insulated camper. After I picked it up I slept in it. It was raining, windy and cold that night but my little camper was rock steady. I did not have any electricity so depended on body heat to warm it up and when I woke up the camper was toasty. It has a small TV with a remote control ( I hate remote controls) and a air conditioner also with a remote control. The cab is so small that remote controls are not needed. I try hard to live very simple and without a lot of 'stuff'. Can't wait to take this little camper and get lost in the wilderness. I will post a picture as soon as I figure out how to do it.

I have wanted a tear drop for the past 10 years. I looked, studied, looked some more and then finally decided to get one. I store it in my garage. I love this little home, it has everything I want and need. My friend told me that he pays $100 a month to store his full size camper at a storage place. My camper could be a nice little room for guests and my nice little room for when I visit other people.

Looking forward to meeting other that have a love and passion for these little campers.

I can well understand waiting and I am so glad you finally have yours now. My suggestion is to join Tearjerkers (see TD friendly web sites above) and join us for the fun. CRA seems to be taking over as the national gathering.

Welcome Redcub! We waited a long time to get our teardrop so I can feel your pain. Are you from Texas or just coming to visit Texas? The South Central group is active, so you might check it out. We do the LCG trip in October and it is fun. You would have a good time if you decide to join us. There is still plenty of campsites for now.

We're not here for a long time, just here for a good time.

Thank you all for the comments. Thank you S.Heisley for posting my pictures on the forum, I have them in my gallery but still have to learn how to post on this forum.
honesask~ What is the LCG trip? I'd like to know more about it.

I'm from Houston, Texas and will be going to the international teardrop convention near Kearney, Nebraska on June 29th. It's at a small town right out of Kearney called Minden, Nebraska. Then I'm pulling the Red Cub to the Black Hills of South Dakota. I've always wanted to sleep in the badlands and in Spearfish. I have been there many times but not with my red cub. My dad camped in the badlands many times and always talked about what a great experience that was. My dad was an avid camper and I learned a little from him.. I hope to post some nice pictures when I get back. I really look forward to meeting many of you and hopefully share a dish or two. I have a large pecan tree in my back yard so the dishes I will be making will have pecans in them. I've been told I make the best organic peach pie! Hope to share some of the food with my new fellow teardrop campers.
