I have arrived...

Postby kymoonshine » Tue Jan 15, 2013 7:24 pm

Hello from the middle of the Bluegrass State... I am very happy to have found this group.. I've been over at Airforums for a long time as my passion of Airstreams is great... I have a 29ft 1973 Ambassador that I spent some years redoing and have traveled long and hard in her... I was at an Airstream Rally few years ago and I noticed all the spots near the bath house had been taken by these strange little campers..one guy had even pulled his there with a motorcycle..so me not being shy went over and started asked questions...they were having a TearJerker get together and I fell in love with the little campers... I decided that I must have one...well three years later here I am...as luck would have it a buddy started one(its not really a teardrop..he called it a bread box or something)and I have a new winter project to finish it...
I have always wanted something small to pull to VW car shows and camping events like CYW's and CTS..but it's to much hassle to pull the Airstream at 12 mpg and diesel prices..plus its to big to get in and out of events...so a small teardrop looked better and better....I have a way to go..but I think with the information I have here I will be camping by Spring...

Hello, kym. That is quite a rig you have there. After all, wood is good. I do have one question though, are there any plans for a countertop within that galley? It sure makes meal preps easier. Perhaps there is a slide out there, but I can't make it out. Good luck on finishing it, then, get to a local gathering, soon. Many folks will be axious to see it. Your Airstream looks great.

Here ya go. Just click on the link and you'll end up at the Tear Jerker forum. You ask: Will your teardrop qualify? Heck, you can join with anything, even the Airstream.

Welcome kymoonshine. You've got a good start on your tiny trailer and it looks like it will be a nice one. Is that a borrowed license plate on it? Doesn't that one say "OHIO 1941"? How about a picture of what that belongs to? ...Just curious.

You have arrived just in time !

The biggest gathering of teardrops east of the Mississippi River will be less than 100 miles north of you this summer. Two years ago we had 141 tiny trailers from 38 states and canada in attendance. There was no way in the world to see it all. We also had a steady stream of local citizens wandering thru the park and visiting with us as well. Go to the midwest section and peak at the 2011 Crossroads of america gathering (warning its 38 pages) and while you are there check out the 2013 Crossroads thread as well. Reservations will open up in less than 2 weeks and I strongly suggest you jump on the band wagon soon. Hope to see you there and welcome to the best forum on the internet

Welcome aboard ! Wow what a great little breadbox you have there. Either your buddy or you did a real craftsman like job on it. If you have any other buddies who have a partially completed teardrop they want to get rid of please look me up ! Lee

Hey kymoonshine

You're gonna hate me for posting these Teazzzzzzzer pics.

But here goes. another member posted them. He got them years ago in a VW forum and no more info is know
about it. I don’t have a VW but If I did, I would build one like this. Id still like to have a small Canned Ham
camper like this any how. :)
