What do you have to do to make the trailer tilt? Remove a bolt or a pin?

Yes, I figured to weld it shut so it won't rattle any more. Then either remove the side rails or add more metal to create a frame. (?)

Of course, re-finish the floor & make it into a teardrop style.

Hello. That trailer will work fine, but you definitely will need to move the axle back some. I assume it has leaf springs. You just cut the mounting shackles off at he welds, and move them back. If you damage the shackles, you can get new ones.

You might want to take leaf out, unless you plan a heavy TD. 3,200 lbs. is more than most TDs need.

My TD is based on the Generic Benroy design. That is a simple design that is easy to build.

There are several members in the DFW area. You should plan to come to a gathering. You can see what others have done, and get a lot of good information.

Here is what we have scheduled, so far...

also, I can't figure out how to remove the 2 posts that don't make sense. any help? And it is 3,500 lbs. not 3,200 as I first thought.

Thanks. I will see what I can do to make a meeting.

CD is right about removing a leaf or two from the spring pack.

If you damage the spring hangers removing them, you can purchase new sets at Triple S, or at almost any trailer parts sales. They're fairly in-expensive.

One member here removed the railing up-rights using a reciprocating saw.

Oh, before removing the spring hangers, take a measurement from a set point. This way, you can add the amount of movement equally on both sides when relocation the axle..

Thanks for the URL on the springs/leafs/brackets. Would you leave the side rails? Or just add more metal studs to strengthen it since it is rated for 3,500 lbs.?

Or remove them entirely and start from a scratch flat bed?

If it where mine, I'd remove the railings entirely and start with a fresh slate.

I'd remove the side rails... If it were my trailer, I'd pickup a new set of springs for the 'ideal' weight I was searching for. It'd take a few hours to pull off the side rails and relocate the axle.

So why remove all that stuff. Just build a 'slide in' and that way you'll have the best of both worlds. :)

Hi Gage,

Now THAT is an idea! Any problems getting in/out over the rails? Any other photos? If so, send to [email protected]. I would really like to see them! Are you able to remove it for trailer only use?

Thanks a million,
Gregg

Those are probably more along my line as I am limited to what I can lift & do. (back problems) I will search for plans & specs to try this one, maybe. Hopefully I can find some on here!

Thanks to ALL of you for your time & help!

Blessings to all & to all a Happy New year!Gregg White
