I hope we get a chance to camp together one day. :vroom:

Hey Becca,

My in-law's live in Brandon! We visit there a lot. I hate the traffic on Hwy 60, well, all through Brandon actually. I think they should have put in light rail instead of the elevated express lane on the crosstown, but that is another discussion. Brandon has really grown up in the past 10-15 years, it used to be all cow pastures.

We went tent camping a few times at Lithia Springs, which is right up the road from Brandon. Nice little park, good swimming, decent campground. Might go camping there again, once the camper is done!

Backing up

Postby tinytrailer » Mon Feb 01, 2010 5:47 pm

It is quite difficult to back up these little trailers. I've been camping alone for several years now and I still have problems BUT there is usually someone around that will offer to help you. Hope to see you at one of our Florida gatherings.

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for the nice welcome. Would love to meet you someday while out camping.

Becca, I have a good friend that lives in Brandon. You sound like you would be happier in North FL.

Wallace61, I grew up in Dixie Country. Between Cross City and Horseshoe Beach. Many years ago. Still have some kin left there.

TinyTrailer, Don't scare me about having problems backing that thing up. I might have to tell my husband to do it. (even if he can't see how.)

Hello Al ~ So you can feel my dislike for this town. Not that it's a bad town, believe me it has more amenities than my hometown in Louisiana! But, I just never have felt like I belonged here. My sons have made it their home, well, except my oldest. He and his girlfriend live in Jacksonville and I think he likes it ok. One day I'll escape this State and head back home where all my family and friends are. But for now I'll just keep camping with my forum friends. You live in beautiful country...how sweet! Is it still too cold for camping in N.C.? It's perfect here right now. I'm getting the Scotty ready to roll soon.

It was nice talking to you Al. Hope one day we can camp together.

Hi Linda, welcome to the forum. Now that you already have a teardrop, take it out to a big-ol', parking lot and slip your hauler in reverse. Then slowly start backing up, checking on which way your trailer is veering. With you hand at the bottom of your stearing wheel, just the slighest movement to the left, will move your trailer to the left, and likewise, a slight movement to the right, will direct it to the right. Just a little practice, will make you an absolutely professional tear drop-backer-upper.

The biggest mistake most back-er-uppers make, is too much movement of the ol' steering wheel. Just take it easy, slight movements is all it takes, and soon, folks will be lined up in the campground to stare in amazement, as you thread the needle and slip that little rig, right into that campsite, as if you have done it all of your life.

Hi Roly,

Thanks for the advice. I will have to give it a try soon as it stops raining here.
