Hey Folks! Yes, been a while since I wrote on here, but not that I have given up on the tear drop for my bike. Only the opposite! I read Duane Kings paper on the perfect TD. And have been trolling through the design section of the site as well as surfing other sites about TD’s. Well, Tomorrow I start! Now that the ice storm is over here in Georgia “we hope” .
I am going to buy the base trailer from Harbor Freight and start putting it together so that I can start laying in the flooring. As stated, In Duane’s paper about the perfect TD, I like where he said to take your time planning your build. And that is exactly what I have been doing. Trying to figure out what is important to me and a need for me. I don’t necessarily agree with what is needed and what is not, however, again, not every one likes the same car, or the same sports team. Its individuality, and I think, that is what I have come to appreciate about the TD’s most of all. No two are the same. And they are made the way the owners want them.
I cannot see myself doing a factory trailer in the first place. I am a “pride in ownership kind of guy, and the fact that I built it just makes it that much more valuable to me. So that being said, I am going to take the plunge tomorrow “or some time this weekend depending on work” and get going on it. I am planning a trip up to Jersey this summer on the bike and my goal is to have the trailer ready to go by then.
Wish me luck!
Joe

That is great new! Be sure to start a build journal so that we all can see your progress.

Thanks Rod! You know I will if not to share with you all, but I like looking back at the trials and tribulations through my accomplishments more than anything. Already have a couple of friends here that are waiting to see how mine comes out, so probably will be involved in a couple more before it is all done. {Yes, I guess I am the Lab rat on this one… LOL} Yall Take care! :D
