Hi rharris410,
Camping with a tent or TD ... Hmmm, it is a good question and depends on you the camper...
If you like to hike way back in the boonies on a deer trail and set up a pup tent on the side of a mountain, then the tent may be your best bet. However, if the area is accessible by 2-wheel or 4-wheel drive vehicles, then a small trailer ... either a TD or CT may fit your needs.

I decided to go to a cargo conversion as I prefer an inside galley and a stand-up trailer, but still want a small footprint 8)

I built my trailer for off-roading into the desert lands of Arizona to hunt for gold with a metal detector and love it :D

Take a look at my gallery and check out a few pics:

After spending weeks studying a location to prospect and then taking Friday off work to make a three-day weekend and driving 4+ hours to get to to the proposed campsite only to find a freak rainstorm passing through (all night). My brother has his own business and I worked for a large company that always seemed to be short-handed ... this leaves no provision for changing at the last moment. There we were, rain pouring down and we moved the ice chests outside and slept in the back of a blazer --- I decided to make a change!!

By the way --- no people, no traffic, just peace quiet and nature's best ... 8)

There are a bunch of other folks that have made comments as to why and the many reasons to make a change to a hard-sided trailer and if you scour this site, you can even find an off-road blog ... good luck and hope to meet up with you sometime ... 8)
Happy Camping & Building,
John (JC)
