Could you split wood storage, part front part back, so you have more flexibility in loading weight and have a more balanced load?

You might consider storage that goes side to side; the weight in the tongue would be helpful.
"Basement" storage, side to side would also work. You could look through the Build Journals,
Ravens Wing would be one that shows how the basement storage could work.
Low, forward, and side to side; rather than lengthwise. With 72" staves, you woud be looking at 6 wide.
The length and height would be left to whichever profile you choose. A side wise bed, in the nose, over
storage, accessd from either side, from the outside. Is one thought, for a standie type or cargo trailer.
The : Raven's Wing : build would be an example of a tear drop.

I haven't really thought about accessing the storage from the side. I was planning on making the wood storage area at least 75" long. That is the exact width of my trailer frame. I'm not sure if I would have enough width to run the pieces of wood sideways. Most of the wood still has the bark still on it. I was wanting to have an enclosed storage area to keep the mess out of the living area. I think it will be best to keep the heavy wood load centered over the axles. The rest of the camper shell will hopefully add enough tongue weight. I can always move some stuff around inside to adjust it if needed. Besides the wood I will be bringing a few hundred pounds of tools, gear, and supplies.

I've been playing around with sketchup. I'm not very good with it. The dimensions don't seem accurate when I compare it to real life measurements. This is what I came up with so far. I don't know what's up with the extra lines inside the wood storage area. I didn't see them until I posted the picture.

While going over this thread, a thought came to mind...

What if you raised the sleeper box up from the main trailer frame on a raised frame and used the space between ... say 6 to 12 inches, for the wood box? this would keep the trailer footprint shorter and loading would only be heavier or lighter without changing the load ratio? The wood box could be built with or without a Wood Drawer on rollers and pulled from the rear or even two drawers that would be loaded from one side; either style would just require even loading...

I don't think that would give me enough wood storage room. To haul as much as I'm wanting to I will need a fairly large area. I'm thinking the full width of the trailer and at least 30" high. The wood is irregular shapes and doesn't stack very neatly.

I tested out an idea for my camper tonight. I bought some LED flicker tea lights and put them in an old oil lantern. It looks pretty good. I saw some brighter lights on ebay that were remote controlled. I might test out one of those. It will be easier than taking it out to turn it on and off.
