Eunice,

Glad I could awaken those memories again. It makes me realise again how important it is to build memories as a family. That's what will ultimately be remembered...

I looked at your pictures again today. They indeed are great. Have you started to build as of yet?
Thanks for your interest in my build with the big windows, and we to do enjoy the sun and air.

R2go,

Thanks for the post, and the compliments about the pictures.

Unfortunately I have not started building yet. I have been in the design phase for more than a year now, simply because I want something that meets my specific needs. Another major reason is, of course, that Harbor freight and redtrailers are not available here, and so I will need to build a custom frame. Because I have to go with a custom frame I thought of putting in drop floors, etc. (If I have to go with a custom frame I can just as well design it as I want it). Anyway, long story short, I am hoping to start building in a couple of months.

Keep your build pictures coming. Seeing the pictures sure keeps me inspired, and I will watch your build closely.

Bill,

Thanks for the compliment with the kids. Yes, I sure love them, and they make me proud.

About the tear - I don't really know what you mean, but I sure want to build mine as lightweight as possible!

heyyyy barrie, saw your from SA...
I'm from Kenya and my boyfriend's from Gabon. Missing Africa like mad as always. Whereabouts are you? All the Kenya Cowboys go to SA for uni, got alot of friends there but have failed to visit (yet). As some stage, I'd love to travel from Kenya down to SA, maybe on the train, with my bag handcuffed to my arm!
Anyways, just saying hi,

Gatorbuc47,

Thanks! I'll keep you posted. I am on the verge of starting my build, and only need to sort out a few tiny details.

There are quite a few good game parks in the vicinity. That's where most of the photos came from. If you look carefully in my avatar, you'll see the cheetah in the front of the photo.

Bigjeff/Lara, yep, when Africa's in your blood, it's difficult to get it out! I'm in Johannesburg, the biggest city in South Africa. If I have to compare it to another place in the US, I think the closest would be Denver. Both cities are about the same altitude, But Denver gets a lot colder, and is of course much cleaner than Johannesburg.

What state is VA?

Postby BigJeff » Fri May 16, 2008 3:55 pm

Am now regretting posting our name as BigJeff!! I'm Lara and my Boyfriend's Matheas... the big jeff thing was a silly joke (ahhh booze) that makes sense to no one except us!! haha oh well, i shall continue to be referred to as Jeff, I spose there are worse names...

VA is Virginia and I'm currently in Virginia Beach. I've got a couple of friends in Joburg at the moment. Were your born in SA or did you move out there?
Nice pics by the way!

Barrie,
Welcome, I traveled in your beautiful country last year and LOVED it. I went to Kruger and a private game reserve. I love how they fence the campers in with electric fence and let the animals have the park. The night game drives are the coolest. I even got to hand feed Jessica the hippo. You are so lucky to live in such an amazing country.

Mmmm, interesting perspective...
Seeing that so many people in South Africa are emigrating to other countries due to the horrific crime here and the better opportunities elsewhere...

By the way. I am an 'oldie' by now, but someone bumped this old thread to the top of the newbies section again!
