I can vouch as well, I forgot that I have had 2 issues with my Silver Shadow, first was the Petcool A/C flexible ducting hose had split open and Scott promptly replaced it. And second, the chrome on one of my baby moon hubcaps started flaking off and Scott promptly sent me 2 more!

And, count me as one who has had excellent service from Little Guy!! I have had a few small issues with my Silver Shadow, and the excellent response and help from Scott and others has been great!

We had a little leak problem on the hatch. Joe took good care of us. He is now at pleasant valley Trailers though. Some split up.

I wound up buying my tear from a private builder and have had no leaking problems at this point. I have been in customer service and i definitely want to applaud Little Guy's customer service policy! As with most large companies they are not always aware of the problems that are sometimes miss handled by their employees. Although i am very pleased with my TD, If and when i am ready to purchase another, i will definitely look into the Little Guy TD's because of their willingness of service after the sale!

I'm a newcomer to these various comment threads - and a slow reader, too - but will weigh in all these months later. I'd like to know if Little Guy's "strategic solutions" rep was able to make things right for the original commenter.

We own a 2006 Pleasant Valley-made Silver Shadow. We also found out, the wet way, that the galley hinge must be down in a rainstorm if any part of the trailer roof sloping that way is exposed to rain. Our leak was a pinhole gap in the caulking, since fixed.

We have had the luxury of comparing PV and LG Silver Shadows, however, since some folks a couple blocks away bought a new LG SS last summer. Much cheaper construction, esp. struts & galley lid lining. What really caught my eye, however, was that the trim holding the veneer on in the cabin was coming off and hanging down -- on a new, unused trailer.

Having looked through this thread I thought I'd post the email that I sent to both Little Guy USA & the importers in the UK.............

Hi Folks, thought you might be interested in these pictures of, what I understand to be, the first Little Guy to be imported into the UK in 2005, six years ago, not very good is it?
The sealent strip that is supposed to be under the edge capping has great gaps in it which has allowed water to get in in under it & soak both sides, the beam of wood that goes across the back where the galley cover comes down onto has carpet between it & the side of the tear which can never be of sound construction. I'm faced now with either having to rebuild most of the tear or just scrap it! & it's only 6 years old!! not a good advert for Little Guy teardrops is it? I have already had to re attatch the L/H side after a gap of about half an inch between the side panel & the floor inside, I could see the hangar floor, from the inside!
I bought it around 14 months ago & since then it has maybe been outside for 8 days al the rest of the time it has been dry stored either in our hangar at work or in my garage at home.
I welcome your thoughts!

Oh, I thought I would add that in August I've been invited to attend a show with my Teardrop so a TV company can include it in a program they are making about caravans! I'm not sure what I'm going to be able to say to them regarding this poor quality build.

i can understand your frustration with all of the water damage, what i would like to know is how did the first owner treat the trailer, did he leave it outside during the winter, was it covered up. by the looks of the water damage the trailer was leaking for some time.. i live in Oregon on the west coast and we do not sun tan over here we rust

Hi Mike, I have no way of knowing how the first owner treated it although as far as I know that would have been the importers as I believe they owned it for the first few months as it was used as the demonstrator & for all the trade shows & TV things they did with it. However it has been stored it still should not have let in enough water to cause that amount of damage! The chap I got it from had a loose cover on it where he had it stored in his garden in a very sheltered area. If it had been built properly with plenty of sealent & had the carpet inside cut where cross bars were mounted & maybe some glue had been used we would not have this mess! The repair is now almost finished, just the new lights to be installed & the wires connected, It now has a very shiney rear end as I have used aircraft grade aluminium sheet for the curved back panel.
I'm more disapointed that Little Guy have not bothered to reply to my email but I suppose its not in the States so why bother? The importer over here also has ignored my email too.
Does anyone know what the life span of Little Guys is supposed to be? I would have thought it should be over 6 years wouldn't you?

Make me real glad I built mine from scratch. They set out winter and summer 24 - 7 and NO issues.

I own 4 vintage trailers and i can verify it does not take very much water to do a lot of damage to the wood on these trailers.

I have had an Amish built Silver Shadow for five years- no problems. I think the problems are from the Elkhart built TDs. I bought mine from Little Guy in Canton, OH. Great service! I think they may be Amish built again. If not, I would buy from Joe at Pleasant Valley.

I spent my working career in quality control/ non destructive testing and part of that involves continuous improvement. What went wrong and how do you prevent it from happening again. This is one reason or my obsession with finding things that last. Unfortunately what most folks seem to have fallen into the Walmart syndrome, the lowest price with for the most part the attendant lowest quality.
One of the problems now is that it is difficult to even find a good quality product at any price. As an example finding a fan that moves a substantial amount of air quietly and will last more than a couple of years. I routinely take apart fans and grease the sleeve bearings which extends their life by a couple of years. I would be willing to pay for a good quality fan with ball bearings and with the same technology in fan blade design used in computers.
Little Guy has a QC problem (have you ever seen a Camp Inn complaint) and is this just a, you get what you pay for?

I am still awaiting my new baby Silver Shadow, and want to outfit her right. I am getting a 12v outlet put in for a fridge. What brand and model fridge are some of you wonderful people using? Did you have to modify anything?
