OK, I'll go first!

Postby GHOSTSSX » Wed Aug 02, 2006 9:11 pm

Been lurking about a month or so, trying to absorb as much information as my tiny mind can hold! Saw the teardrop plans on the web(1947 Trailer for Two) and started researching. Found Ya'll and the rest will be history.

As for me, I enjoy camping of any sort, have done many kinds at one time or another, ATVing, Biking, hiking, etc. For pets, I have 2 dogs, an Afghan/Spaniel Mix and an Austrailian Shepherd, and a Bearded Dragon. I have had a pop-up and spent many hours in my sisters travel-trailers. I am an IT professional and before that was a percussion instructor for 18 years. I volunteer with several groups ranging from severe weather comms as a ham operator to summer music camp.

My TD is still in my head, but am working on scrounging up parts as we speak. I already have some ducting for AC and elecrical parts. I plan on building something akin to the FishInn or a Modern/Cub/Benroy hybrid using an old popup, etc for he frame.

Thank you for all of your great info and for being such a nice community. I am lookin forward to being more involved as the build begins!

Hey Chuck... welcome, you've found a gold mine here ! !!!

Be SURE to watch for a gathering or campout in the Alabama, southern Tenn area soon. There is NOTHING better than camping with some teardroppers and seeing them in person to get you hooked!!

Been a lurker for over a year. Got permission to join and got onboard right away, thinking back to Feb 06. Been a TD owner since June. Even though it's a commercial utility type TD, its still works out well. Just need a little more work on the frame for storage carrying.
My camping involves Jeeping.

Recently, I purchased a military 3/4 ton trailer frame.

Going to fab a TD on that to sleep 3 (me and 2 kids). Idea is to have canvas exterior, bright interior paneling, storage inside, storage tongue (accessible in/out), slide-outs for the large kitchen items, rotating tables among other ideas. Build to start winter 07.

Glad to be here. Lots of smart people.

Hello

Postby stevendee » Tue May 12, 2009 1:07 pm

Seems only right and proper that i say hello and introduce myself,
I'm steve from Warrington in the UK, and would like to thank all you guys for the information contained on this site. It certainly encouraged me to make a start on our teardrop, so much that we went camping with it last week....only got the chassis in march !
It hasnt been fitted out internally yet, as we really intended it to carry our huge amount of camping gear....but its sold to a friend on its first outing and i'm planning No 2 now ....the bug bit hard. Hope to post some pics soon and i must apologise for no build pics as i really only had a 3 week deadline to complete it....7pm on the evening before departure ...lol
i would love to meet and natter with any fellow fanatics in the area ...any time

I was about to ask what happening to the old newbie section, then noticed the post date.
Holy cow, Rose is a teenager now! Done? Surely you jest. A teardrop is never "done".
