A New Guy From Tampa

Hi All,

I met a bunch of you at Anastasia last weekend. I must say I found the Teardrops intriguing.

Right now I'm at the research stage. If I'm going to have a Teardrop I'm going to do it myself. This obviously the place to come for information. If there are any Teardroppers in Tampa, drop me a PM. I'd like to take a look at some of your designs and how they were constructed.

I have two pics of Ira and another of the group playing guitars. I'll post them down in the Anastasia report.

Jay, welcome to the insanity! It's obvious TD's have struck a chord with you. It certainly doesn't cost anything to plan and research. I've spent the past year researching and planning a build. Lucky for me, I scored a completed TD for cheap. However, I never stop thinking about my dream TD. Get yourself a thick binder and start gathering info/plans/pics, etc. There's a great TD plan at the top under "Generic Benroy Plans". The people here are great. Have fun!

Having run a website for paddle fishing for over 5 years, I understand the passion. Kayak fisherman are just as crazy about their hobby as this group.

kayak's

Kayaks are neat, but ya ' can't sleep in them, without getting wet. Plus you have to eat your fish raw. :?

LOL....

I've done a lot of camping out of my kayak. It's a great way to go sometimes when you really want to get away.

But, "She Who Must Have Her Way" would not have any part of that. She loves the outdoors. As long as there is a shower close by. :)

Another Yak fisherman, have you seen this thread?

My cousin in Clearwater used to fish from a yak but he got his skiff working right so he's been using that lately.

Oh those Texas kayak fisherman are all a pain in A$$. Just kidding. I've made some good friends with the guys from that area.

One of the best campsites in this area is also one of the best fishing destinations.

Check out Fort DeSoto Park in St. Petersburg. It is a lovely destination. Get your reservations in early though. It fills up quickly.

Plenty of reds and trout. If you can bear the summertime heat, you can find tarpon.

Jay, glad you mentioned getting reservations in early at Ft. Desoto, cause that's my next camping destination...and soon...if I can get a spot that is. I'll be surf or pier fishing though. I can't tow both my trailer and boat.

Dale,

Here's the link for Fort D:

http://www.pinellascounty.org/park/05_Ft_DeSoto.htm

You can make your reservations on line. They do keep a certain of number for "walk ups."

Let me know when you'll be over. I'd love to look at your rig.

Until this cold snap the piers had been hot for Spanish Mackerel and Pompano. Give me some advanced notice and I'll get the reports for you.

Dale, when you went to Fort DeSoto, did they let you camp with the tents and vans or did they put you in with the RV's.
Which area did you prefer?

I've never been there, but my high school is planning an event.
