Greetings all,
Next week I pick up a new Yoder 4x8 cargo trailer so I can have the fun of designing and building the inside of my tear. I'm so fired up that I wish the day were here. :)
I'm a shop teacher in the St. Louis area who is almost retired [2 years at most] so I'll have the time [if I don't spend it all on the road] to get the job done once I figure out how I want it to look and every bell and whisle I 'need' on it.
Any suggestions on design or materials are very welcome.
Ron

Welcome !!!! Ya know, I've mentioned before that teardrop building would be a good shop project, and then the teacher could keep it at the end, or they could auction it off for money for something new for the shop or something . Teen boys or even adults could learn everything from welding to axles, to wood shop to wiring ....
Some things are way over my head !! ...but it keeps me looking UP!

Welcome aboard Ron,
We are going to need to get together a Missouri gathering if this keeps up. No need to wait til your finished, just through a sleeping bag in there and go camping.

Are we there yet?

WELCOME!!!!!
Welcome Ron,
Sound like you are going to have some fun.
Best place to start in designing is to look at lot of pictures.
I'd recommend starting under Important Information, you'll find a thread called Galley Gallery Relocated. Its got lots of pictures of not surprisingly galleys.
So browse around, read, use the search at top and start your planning. and have lots of fun.

Ron I know you are a patient person cause you teach shop. Never met one who wasn't patient to a fault. (my girls caused this revelation) My suggestion is to look at lots of pictures cause they help keep the bubble oil level. :D I bet you have some bubble oil too, right. 8)

Enjoy and Please :pictures: :pictures: :pictures:

There is almost too much

Postby teachu » Tue Jun 05, 2007 10:10 pm

Thanks for the welcome and the advise.
I've been looking a pics for what seems like hours! I find one I like then the next is even better. This may be a long process just making up my mind.
I live in Barnhart, just south of St. Louis.
My school doesn't get out till Fri and the middle schoolers I teach think it's been out for weeks. I'm down to my last spare nerve.
I've started picking up a few things I'll need and my living room [ I'm single]is looking like a a parts house hit a hardware store.
This is going to be a lot of fun!!

   PS~the 12 step program doesn't work. You should officially consider yourself a TDer.

There is no cure and the only thing that helps is sharing lots of pictures of everything. 8)

Middle School? :? :? :? :? :? :? :?

You will have lots of fun!

the 12 step program does work

Postby teachu » Wed Jun 06, 2007 6:07 pm

The 1st step look at every pic you can get
2nd step make a list of every feature you want
3rd step redesign the TD to hold all that stuff [mine maybe 15 wide by60 long if I see one more photo]
4th step take out a large loan to start paying for everything. :?
I think you see how well the 12 steps will work. LOL
I'm sure glad I'm off for the next 2 1/2 months.

Welcome Ron
You could always make a run up to Minden the 15th than you'll really have a problem deciding what to put in it. I go along with Scott why wait till it's done just through in a air bed, sleeping bag, and grub and hit the road.
