Just stopped in to say Hello

Postby HMK » Tue Jun 12, 2007 10:23 pm

Well, let's try this again. I tried posting earlier, but I must have hit the wrong button.

Anyway, like I was saying, I didn't know a thing about Teardrops until the other day. I was on the Branson 1 forum and a fellow forum member shared some pictures and this website. I took one look at the "1/2 Nelson Woody" and feel in love. I sat up all last night reading "Wolverton's Puffin" Thread. That was just awesome watching as it came together. I'm not sure if I could build one or not. I dabble in a little woodwork and make a few knives, but I tend to overdo things. I once spent a couple of grand building a 10 x 12 storage shed. I figure if one 2 x 4 is good, 2 will make it perfect.

I wouldn't mind trying something small though. I would have to follow the plans exactly as far as construction is concered or we would need a semi to pull it down the road.

Anyways, sorry I am so long winded. I just wanted to take a minute and say hello. I am from a small town in Central Texas. It's pretty close to Waco if you know where that is. "Remember" all the hoopla a few years ago?

Howdy!! Glad to see a new Texan with a fixation!!! I think I'm a bit like you...over-building is second nature (but I write that stuff off everytime someone gives me grief, justifying it because Alaska has such a harsh environment!!!)

And remember two rules...

    Jack is always right. Even though your from Waco, we won't make fun of where you live, and;

From an Alaskan to a Texan, design your Tear well, because size does matter!!!!

Greetings, welcome to another forum. Don't know exactly where you are but I bought my windows in the Rosebud Lott area. I just checked over there at the Branson forum to see who spilled the beans.

I hope to meet you at a future gathering.

Hey Asian,

It was Mellie from the Branson Forum. Hey, I see you are from Round Rock. I do some PRN work at Georgetown. Good to meet you. I am east of Waco, actually I am about 1/2 way between Waco and Corsicana. I live way out in the boondocks. :)

I have no doubts you can build your own camper. I'd rank my woodworking skills a lot lower than most people on this message board, and just a tad higher than a monkey holding a hammer.

Welcome to the message board!

Chef,

Glad that you are back! Congrats on the beginning of your build. I look forward to seeing the pictures.

ChaseLounge wrote:Well, it was me...I spilled the beans. I haven't been on this forum, since last summer. Right after we decided to build one, before we had even purchased the trailer, we got an old farmhouse, way out in the country. It has taken alot of work and needless to say, the teardrop was put on the back burner.

I was so disappointed, I didn't even want to read this forum...it made me too sad. But, I have been thinking about it, the whole year. I posted a few times in the 1Branson.com thread about our teardrop plans...just as "chit chat". A few weeks ago, we went and bought the trailer. I was so excited that I started a thread about it. HMK read the thread and caught the bug, too.

So, now we're back on track and hope to have our "Chase Lounge" finished, by the end of the summer. HMK, I wish you lots of luck!

HMK, if during your build, you have any questions about the 1/2 Nelson, just jive me a hollar. I needed advice when I built it and would be happy to give back when I can. If you still have that shed, clear it out and build a little gem that you will always be proud of. Take pics and postem.
