I have been trying to come up with an idea for a camping box that will hold all of my camp kitchen items, sleeping items, and other camp necessities. I don't own a forklift though so I was in the process of reducing the cargo into several different boxes when I had an appifiny? of sorts. I was watching a car show on the tube when I saw a TD behind an old stationwagon. I have seen these before but because of there small size, never cosidered one. (I am 6'5 and weigh almost 300 lbs) However I thought I would look a little deeper into them. Maybe some custom ideas would get my gears a clicken. I do some custom welding for myself and freinds so I think I can come up with something. I have spent the last 2 hours reading over all the customs and read how to properly frame with wood. I have most of the wood working tool that have been used, most of them are basic. The one thing I have not seen yet, doesn't mean it isn't here, is a TD that will haul an atv with it. I am working on a sketch and will try to post in the next few days. Meanwhile, If any body has any iders, please let me know. Thanks all

Welcome alloffroad. There is a guy on here that has space for a motorcycle on front of his tear. An atv is a little wider, but hey if you weld it will be any size you make it. As far as making the cabin longer, you are making it, make what works for you. Most of all have fun and welcome.

Thank you folk for the welcome and info. I think I saw the post Del mentioned. I have come up with a plan that will allow for a kitchen on the outside, a small room for a port-a-potty with a small sink and enough room in the back for a quad, a small dirt bike and once empty, sleeping room for 4 adults. 2 on the floor and 2 in flip down bunks. I still have to tweek it some but I think it will be less that 16 feet long from hitch to tail. The other option would be to ditch the 05 dodge duango and get a pickup. ;)

Welcome!
alloffroad,
Welcome to the fun!
The beauty of little trailers is that you can design them for what works for you.
If you need to get the vehicles out of the back, there is a build by WarPony where he put the galley hatch in the front & so not to trip over the tongue getting to the kitchen it is retractable.
We have a variety of experts that tend to know what will work or not & they always love new ideas and are very helpful, so post your plans & ideas.
We would love to see them.

Welcome to the mayhem alloffroad. If you have a look at the Little Guy web page you will see that they produce an atv carrier/TD. It may give you some ideas for your offroader.
Cheers
Paul

Welcome alloffroad, I'm new here too. But I find that if you look at other people's albums you can get some great ideas. Also if you have a question on how to build, check sdtripper2's Index at the top of the page, he has organized all of the build info into a coherent order, from A to Z.
Or if that fails, just ask, and you will get many good replys.

to the playground Alloffroad. There are a few discussions of putting ATV's on with teardrops. Find the search button and be sure to look in the build forums.

Elmer did one for a dirt bike and it worked great

No reason, with some thought to tongue weight you can't do ATV.

Enjoy

Alloffroad this is the trailer I was thinking about earlier.

I did see one a while back that kept the bike inside, like you spoke of. Both have advantages, one you do not have to move the bike to sleep. The other keeps the bugs off during transit. Food for thought.

Alloffroad--

Welcome aboard! There are a number of us in the Sacramento area that would be happy to show you what we have. Ours is a 5'x10' model - no toys attached. The bed is 5'x7'1" (a long queen bed). There will be a bunch of us getting together at Pt Cabrillo just north of Mendocino July 20-22 if you want to look at a few more up close and personal. We do allow soft-sided tears (tents) to join us.
