Hello from Illinois

Postby Nut » Wed Jun 27, 2007 2:28 pm

Hi everyone, my name is Carl. I found this site a few weeks ago and have been lurking around ever sense and just soaking it all in. There is soo much great info here, and following some of the builds is better than watching tv. I thought I would make my first post something about the people on the site and not so much about TT and TTT's. I belong to a couple of other sites (motorcycle, atv, truck), and they are always arguing about this or that, or saying their "thing" is better than your "thing", or "thats a stupid idea, your an idiot" type of thing to each other. I love the fact that everyone here is soooooooo helpful, or when someone does have an idea thats..... kinda.... you know, people don't bash them, they just give ideas to kinda steer them in another direction. You guys (and gals) are great and should give yourselfs a pat on the back. :applause: :applause: :applause: Sorry for the long post, but I just had to say that. Hope to talk to everyone soon on build help.

It's scary when you start making the same noises as your coffee maker.

Man, you must really BE a nut:

You obviously missed the great Titebond versus Gorilla Glue wars of 2004 and 2006. It was horrible, with hundreds of casualties and bitter feelings still remaining to this day.

WELCOME!
Here we go again!

Thanks LittleCritter.
Yes, I am planning a build. It will be a "standy" (wife says so, lol). I have gotten lots of differrent plans, and I bought Dales plans for the Squidget, which is a fantastic and well thought out set of plans- thanks again Dale.
I have to finsh up a couple of other projects first, or in other words, clean out the garage and reorganize my tools. I already have an old pop-up frame. I was going to use it for something else and have already redone the running gear, ie- flipped the axle below the leafs and painted it. Painted the leafs also. New nuts and bolts holding everything together, and replaced the bearings. Still have to redo the rest of the frame. I'll post some pics of the little-bit of progress I've made so far. O-ya, and I bought a 30x15 window off ebay. I don't plan on going too fast, but hopefully, it should be done next summer. We will stick to the tent until then.

Hi Carl.

Welcome to the board.

This is the best TD forum on the internet and you should be honored to have been selected to join.

Seriously though, as far as people go, you couldn't have picked a better forum to join. So look around and ask questions, and be sure and keep us updated with pictures.

Good that you're here.

Welcome, Carl, I guess if you are from Illinois, you must be allright. I am a transplant from Rockford, Il and visit there whenever I can. I heard it never rains in So Calif, so here I am, and they are a bunch of liars. Good luck on your build, and just remember 2 things. Ask lots of questions and take lots of pictures (and post them on the board). You can never go back and capture those memories again.

Roly, working on my 10 ft Kenskill Standy that's 43 years old. :x

Hi Carl,
Welcome to the forum. I'm a newbie too and also like Rick (SaGR) your neighbor down in Romeoville. Good luck on your construction plans. I'm picking up my new (used) Teardrop this weekend in Michigan and making her my own. :D Hope to do a few upgrades myself.
