New guy, and starting the super weekender.

I have been a member of this site for a few weeks now, and I am addicted. The Puffin and the Super sized weekender are the inspiration for what I'm lookng to do.

My wife and I have had a new popup, and an old hard sized travel trailer. We came to the conclusion that we are campers not rvers, we don't need to have an inside kitchen and all the amenities of home, we go camping to be outside, we want a trailer to sleep in and be warm. Due to this mindset we recently sold our old heavy, wide highway parachute and are starting our build. When all is said and done I hope to have a trailer that weights around 1300 lbs, and is narrow enought to fit in behind my 94 jimmy. I will post the progress picks in the Non Traditional designs forum. I have to say some of you folks have SKILLS.... Some of these trailers are absolutely gorgeous.

I'm up in Canada, have just purchased my lumber, and have begun. I don't think I would have attempted to build my own trailer if it wasn't for this site.

WELCOME!!!
beevel,
Glad to have you aboard.
It is a great site to learn a lot about building little trailers.
There are a fair number of members from Canada here too.
Feel free to ask questions as you go along, I certain have as my husband & I are no experts. Seems like there is always someone who can or point you in the right direction.
Best of luck.

Beevel, welcome to the TD site where you can get all the answers to your build questions. I wouldn't be surprised if your trailer weighs in at less than you think. Most builders discover they would have made their rigs lighter if they were to do it all over again. My 8 ft woody weighs less than 500 lbs and I have a little 6 footer that is under 250 lbs. So you see, you can cut some of the heavy stuff out if you plan correctly. Good luck on your build, and be sure to take lots of pics and post 'em.

Roly, So Calif TD man about a couple of thousand miles south of Canada, or maybe less. :shake hands:
