Another Newbie from Chicagoland

Postby flygal6 » Sun Jul 08, 2007 10:27 pm

Hi all--Really have been enjoying reading the posts and viewing the great pictures on this forum! I have been camping since I was a kid with my family. Started out with a Apache pop-up way back, went to tent camping and 3 years ago got my own 1999 Jayco pop-up. As much as I like luxury of being off the ground and nice features of the pop-up, the set up and teardown time gets to be a bit much at times. Looking to apply the KISS principle, scale down and join the fun. About 3 weaks ago saw a great special on the Travel channel about Tin Can Trailers, and Teardrops. I got hooked fast. Now I have been scouring the web for used, reasonably priced teardrops. Finally think I have located one within driving distance and hope to see more pictures this week and then drive to see it next weekend. Its a homemade one and looks like just what I'm looking for. The guy who built it is in the RV business so seems to know his stuff. Can't wait to see it and hopefully soon call this teardrop my own.
The regional group getogethers look like great fun too. Nice to see other neighbors nearby with teardrops too. ;)

Thought I'd wait till this weekend when I go pickup my little teardrop in Michigan to post some pictures. Wanted to get some with my new, slightly used teardrop as her new proud owner......so soon, soon. I'll use one as the avatar. Thanks for the welcome.

Dayna and I went over to see Carol's TD. Folks, I tell you what -

That thing is built like a tank!

Very nice TD! And she's got a flower box idea that's just too cute :snappy:

That is a great looking trailer. What's left to do? I like the table on the side, sort of an extension of the kitchen counter. Neat. Have fun.

I just posted some new pics in my album with some of my finished projects. Cabinet door was changed so I can make a slide out pedistal drawer for my cooler....that all that is left! Then I'll be set.

Got the night light at where else but one our favorite stores Harbor Freight
 Not real heavy duty, so I will just pop it off like the window box for travel. It will do continuous on or motion sensing. Cheap! Cheap! I think only $7.99. Battery operated. Looks like a Teardrop if mounted on its side.

Good looking campers! Where did you get the big gray plastic container? I could use one of those. Is that where Brutus sleeps?! All the best! --Vic
