Time to say Hello !

Postby Rob G. » Sun Jul 15, 2007 7:10 pm

:D'Hi everybody, My name is Rob and I currently live in Charlotte, NC. I've been lurking about here for weeks, taking in everybody's great ideas and adventures. I am in the planning stages of building my first tear and I could sure use some sugesstions from you pros. I need something I can haul to car shows to hold my photographic gear. It needs to sleep 2 also needs a small galley for simple meals. The problem is the tow vehicle will be my 1965 Jaguar E Type Coupe (a.k.a. XKE) I really need light weight, small size and very stylish to not look rediculous behind the Jag. I'm thinking something very curvey. I'm leaning to the modernistic, or Camp-Inn style, trimmed in alum. or painted black (my car's color). I would also like to run real knock-off hubs and spoke wheels like the car. I dont have a current photo of the car, it's being painted and should be done next month, but I'll post a photo of an Identical car so you can get the idea.

Hi Rob,

Welcome to the forum.

For a car like that I would probably build a cub/modernistic, with parts of it painted to match the Jag.

You lose a lot of valuable space due to the extreme ellipses... Are you sure you want to shorten it too? Check out Andrews cub plans in the design library, or here...

Welcome Rob from Al in Asheville

Hey Rob!

Welcome to the group. I am a newbie, too. Hoping to get a trailer and start building soon. I am just down the road and up the hill from you in Asheville, NC. Keep in touch when you start building, maybe we can compare notes. I get over to Charlotte once in a while. Let me know if you get up to Asheville. There is a teardrop gathering going to be up this way in Brevard in October. Check out the yahoo group for the Southern Appalachian TD group for more info.
