Hello from Vermont

Postby robli67 » Wed Jul 18, 2007 6:51 am

Hello all,
I have spent the past few days looking thru the web pages, love all of the things I have seen.
I found your page while hunting for ideas for a Kayak/caneo trailer. When I saw what was being done here I thought why not figure out away to build one of these and including a way to carry at least two kayaks or canoes.
I have looked at many web pages and still have many more to go, but I was wondering if anyone can point me to some people who have done this?
I do hope I can come up with a good way to do this and will be able to build one. :worship:
Again great job to all, :applause: I look forward to reading and learn more about what everyone has done and are doing.

Thanks!

Rob

Welcome to the forum Rob. I carry yak's on my tear. I used the mounts that are used to mount Yakima racks on a camper shell and Yakima racks.
My tear was built to persue my hobby of kayaking offshore.

Steve - great setup. I had not thought of that way.
I guess I should have told you that I have two min vans that I would be using to tow it. But I think your way would still work.

What size is your trailer? What style is you Teardrop?

thanks

My tear is 12' The style is a cross between the modernistic and the 2+2 from the design library at the top of the page. It is my own design.
The front mount is a T mount usually used on a reciever hitch on a truck, only I mounted a reciever hitch on the tounge to mount it. I wanted it to sit forward enough so I could still open the Galley without having to take the kayak off. Great for arriving at the beach late at night and all you want is a snack and go to bed.

Steve W the kayak is a mainstream Kingfish. My wife uses it now and I now fish in a Malibu Pro Explorer. Both are 12' I don't like long yaks in the surf. They get sideways too easy and roll you.
